DYO Boya moves up 19 places in İSO 500 list

DYO, Turkey's leading paints brand, climbed 19 places in the "Turkey's 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises Survey" 2023 results prepared by Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO). Thus, DYO ranked 226th on the İSO 500 list. Over the past year, DYO has driven numerous innovations from digitalization to cultural transformation, from sustainability to R&D, and experienced rapid transformation through developing new products and technologies as well as service, system and infrastructure innovations. DYO General Manager M. Mutlu Uysal, noting that DYO underwent major changes in the past year and that 2023 was a breakthrough year for DYO, stated: "As a paints brand with roots dating back to 1927 and having established our first factory 70 years ago, today we produce 1,200 varieties of products across 11 main sectors under 5 different brands in our factories in İzmir and Kocaeli. With R&D centers that have brought firsts to our country, we launched 49 projects last year. With a total of 1,060 employees, each with distinct value, and approximately 40,000 DYOlog members, we have entered our 70th year," he said. Highlighting that they introduced 85 new products to the market last year, M. Mutlu Uysal continued: "By making a total of TRY 200 million in R&D investment, the products we brought to market were recognized with highly valuable awards at the Private Sector R&D Centers Summit and RDCONF – 3rd International Research-Development and Design Conference. As a result of our dedicated efforts, we exported USD 20.9 million to 31 countries in the Middle East, Near East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Through all these activities, we jumped 19 places on the İSO 500 List. Therefore, despite all the global and local challenges of 2023, we can say it was a very successful year for DYO." Self-Cleaning Akromax Suprema, Light-Absorbing DYO Shine that Glows in the Dark M. Mutlu Uysal, noting that one result of DYO's ongoing R&D efforts is Akromax Suprema and another is DYO Shine, shared the following: "Akromax Suprema is an exterior facade paint with very high water repellency that self-cleans in the rain and provides long-term protection against color fading when exposed to external environmental factors. DYO Shine absorbs energy from light and enables the surface to glow for an extended period in the dark. Our teams, which began in April 2023 and visited 45 locations, transferred all these distinctive achievements to a total of 33,770 DYOlog members, comprising 29,242 master painters and 4,528 application workers. As a result of these meetings, 90% of master painters and 87% of application workers expressed their satisfaction with the DYOlog system."

DYO Accelerates Sustainability Action Plan

DYO General Manager M. Mutlu Uysal, noting that they aim to develop ECO LABEL certified products and minimize environmental impacts through low-VOC products within the framework of the action plan they have set under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, stated: "Our applications at the Dilovası facility have been included among exemplary applications. Additionally, through the 'Zero Waste Recovery' project, we have recorded increases in the accumulation of recyclable paper, metal and plastic products in DYO factories, and at the Çiğli facility, through the Solvent Recovery Project, we have achieved significant reductions in hazardous waste levels. Furthermore, in response to the climate crisis, we signed a protocol with the General Directorate of Forestry for a donation of 10,000 saplings, thereby preventing 4,114 tCO2 of carbon emissions equivalent to the amount of greenhouse gas that 10,000 trees could reduce," he said.
