Vertical-shaft OBM-V automatic wet paint systems can be used for coating small-sized metal, plastic or glass products with high production numbers in many sectors such as automotive, glass, white goods, aerospace, furniture, construction and defense industries—both for corrosion protection and aesthetic purposes. Additionally, vertical-shaft OBM-V automatic wet paint systems are well-suited for adhesive applications known by product names Chemosil, Chemlok and Megum, which enable bonding of rubber to metal. The main advantage of vertical-shaft OBM-V automatic wet paint systems is that their compact design allows installation in small spaces, and mounting multiple parts on the shaft increases capacity, thereby reducing both investment and operating costs. Additionally, single-point loading and unloading makes them user-friendly. Depending on the product shape, structure, capacity and quality expectations, Elsisan's experienced engineering team designs and manufactures vertical-shaft OBM-V automatic wet paint systems in different versions. According to the process, the machine sections consist of—in their simplest form—pretreatment; for some applications, preheating, two or more wet paint booths, flash-off and oven. Pretreatment can be performed by deionization, flaming, plasma, water washing or CO2 cleaning. The working principle is as follows: products to be painted are attached to fixtures on discs. The fixtures move with the conveyor into the booth where paint application takes place. When the fixture reaches the booth entrance, the conveyor stops and the part begins to rotate around itself. This ensures homogeneous application. While the part rotates, paint is applied for an adjusted duration by means of a vertically moving robot and spray guns attached to it. When the painting time ends, the spray gun stops applying paint and the part moves one step forward. Optionally, an internal paint gun can be added to the OKM-V machine to paint only the interior surfaces of parts. In vertical-shaft OBM-V automatic wet paint systems, the booths where paint is applied can be manufactured with paper filters or water curtains. In paper-filtered booths, paint particles that do not adhere to the part—called overspray—are captured in the paper filter. With advancing technology, filters with very high paint retention capacity are being produced. In water-curtain booths, overspray is captured in the water curtain and directed to the basin; however, overspray that floats in the air and does not contact the water curtain is directed by an exhaust fan toward spray nozzles and air separators located behind the water curtain. Overspray not captured in the water curtain is captured in the nozzles and separators. This way, paint particles are not discharged from the stack, a clean environment is maintained inside the booth, and a suitable environment is provided in terms of worker and workplace safety. For occupational safety, it is recommended that all products used inside the booth be ATEX-certified products. After paint application, oven curing can be done with conventional or infrared heating ovens. In conventional ovens, air heated in a heating unit with burners running on electrical resistance or gas circulates inside the oven to bring it to the desired temperature. Infrared ovens, thanks to their higher efficiency compared to conventional ovens, facilitate heat transfer to the part and thus allow for smaller oven dimensions. There are gas-fired and electric infrared types. Based on part structure, an oven design suitable for the desired process is created. Especially for outdoor parts exposed to sun and rain, a UV curing oven can be added to the system for drying high-durability UV paints. UV paints are resistant to scratching and wear, paint does not easily lose its flexibility and does not change color. The facility's electrical panel is fully PLC-controlled. This allows all moving components to be controlled while air flows, filter contamination and humidity levels are continuously monitored and recorded. The speeds of all moving elements in the machine can be adjusted. For example, the rotation speeds of the part and conveyor can be adjusted. When any malfunction occurs in the system, it stops, fault signals are given and the operator panel display shows the probable cause of the fault. Different recipes can be prepared for each different part and saved in memory, thus preventing time losses and errors. As Elsisan, we have extensive application experience and references in wet paint solutions both in Turkey and abroad. At this point, we understand how important it is for our customers to have access to the right solution and a machine they can rely on for years to come.
