Covestro, a leading provider of coating resin solutions for the decorative industry, announces the launch of an additional approach as part of its strategy to provide more sustainable and safer solutions for the decorative paints and coatings market. As part of this new approach that strengthens Covestro's leading position in bio-based resin innovation, the company will expand its Decovery® resin family and value-added services to meet the demands of its customers and markets.
In the global decorative coatings industry, there is unprecedented demand from regulatory bodies, professional painters and consumers for sustainable products that deliver functionality and efficiency while protecting health and safety. In fact, according to a recent Paint Monitor report, eco-friendly paints are now the number one desired innovation among painters in the EMEA region. And with the decorative industry changing rapidly, it is becoming increasingly important for paint manufacturers to differentiate themselves by meeting these demands.

Covestro's "Decorative Resin House" strategy aims to address these requirements through three core pillars: proprietary market insights, advanced resin technology toolbox, and leadership position in bio-based innovation. The company's latest initiative, known as "a natural home for creating more sustainable paints," focuses in particular on this last pillar and the Decovery® resin family of plant-based resins with up to 52% bio-based content, validated to C14 standards.
To further accelerate adoption of bio-based solutions in the decorative market, Covestro is expanding the Decovery® resin family, which will open new sustainable horizons for the decorative coatings market. Together with additional services such as technical consulting, sustainability dialogue workshops and marketing support, these solutions will enable Covestro customers to offer a wider range of coatings that protect the planet without compromising on performance.
