Kalekim launches Tecnica 32 DS for stronger flooring

Kalekim, with its established R&D experience, offers aesthetic and durable solutions for all types of floors with 'Tecnica 32 DS'. Thanks to the quartz aggregate powder surface hardener 'Tecnica 32 DS', floors exposed to heavy loads can now be made much stronger and can provide a decorative appearance with 4 different colors. 'Tecnica 32 DS' is a cement-based, quartz aggregate powder surface hardener with broad application range, ready-to-use surface hardener material that can be applied by sprinkling in powder form onto fresh concrete surfaces exposed to medium and heavy loads. Easy to apply on fresh concrete slabs and ensuring uniform and homogeneous surface, Tecnica 32 DS not only provides high strength to the surface it is applied to. It prevents wear caused by mechanical loads and at the same time increases resistance to impacts and delays surface dusting. The product creates a difference in comprehensive floor system solutions with its quality and long-lasting performance. In applications of powder surface hardener products like 'Tecnica 32 DS', the timing of powder application and subsequent proper polishing are the most critical steps. Tecnica 32 DS can be applied to concrete in the temperature range of (+5)-(+35)°C, consumption of 4-6 kg per m² is sufficient.

Technical Details Definition

Application Instructions Surface Quality

• The quality of supplied concrete should not vary; the entire surface must have uniform strength. • Concrete slab must be fully compacted, minimum C25 class (350 dose, 25 N/mm²), prepared with minimum water/cement ratio. • The thickness of the applied concrete must be minimum 15 cm. • Air-entrained concretes are not suitable for surface hardener application. • The surface of fresh concrete to be applied must be leveled with a wooden float.

Application Method

• Wait until the concrete base becomes walkable. The depth of footprints formed when walked on should be 0.5-1.5 cm. • Depending on conditions, bleed water should be allowed to evaporate from the surface. • In mechanical applications, immediately after spreading 5 kg/m² of Tecnica 32 DS with an automatic spreader in a single pass, it should be evenly distributed on the surface. • In manual applications, it is recommended to perform spreading in two stages (3 kg/m² in the first stage, 2 kg/m² in the second stage). • Uniform distribution should be ensured carefully without creating undulation on the surface. • Spreading should not be done from a distance greater than 2 m. • The spread material should absorb moisture from the concrete by becoming damp. Sufficient moisture level can be observed by color change. • Polishing should be done with low-speed mechanical float (helicopter). • Water should never be added to the surface where surface hardener has been applied. • Final adjustments can be made manually or with a helicopter float. • Looseness or slurry on the surface indicates the concrete is still fresh. • As soon as the concrete reaches the appropriate hardness level, pre-smoothing should be done with a low-speed metal blade float at minimum angle, and the final smoothing should be done at high speed.

Warnings

• Application should not be done in environments with excessive air circulation. • Since concretes containing fly ash have low workability, they should not be used on such concrete floors. • Properties such as water and cement in the concrete mixture may cause slight color differences. • Protection from environmental effects and clean application ensure color consistency and durability. • Color differences observed during drying is normal. • Correct timing and polishing techniques must be used. • Ambient and substrate temperature during application should be between 5-35°C. • High temperature increases application speed, low temperature decreases application time and speed. • Efflorescence may be observed on the surface under relative humidity conditions below 40%. • Sweating, slow curing and hardening may be observed under relative humidity conditions above 80%. • A non-slip surface can be provided by chemical etching method. • Surface hardeners increase the wear and impact resistance of the applied surface; they do not affect concrete strength. • Curing should be done after Tecnica 32 DS application. Use of Tecnica 22 CW is recommended. • Shelf life information is valid when the product is stored in unopened packaging and under appropriate storage conditions. • Tools and equipment used after application should be cleaned with water. Packaging - Storage
