Clariant Introduces New Polymeric Emulsifiers

New Polymeric Emulsifiers from Clariant Clariant is launching two innovative reactive emulsifiers called Emulsogen® CPA 100 XS and Emulsogen® CPN 100 XS. These emulsifiers enable the production of paints with water resistance and greater resistance to soiling and rain-marking. The two new emulsifiers prevent emulsifier migration that adversely affects fundamental paint properties such as water resistance and adhesion to surfaces, or causes undesirable aesthetic defects such as rain-marking and soiling. Thus Clariant provides convenience for paint manufacturers with these emulsifiers and is able to meet the end requirements of producers.

High-Quality, Water-Resistant Binders Can Be Obtained

Sebastian Prock, Global Marketing Leader of Clariant's Industrial Applications Division, made remarks on the subject. In his statement, Prock said: "Soiling and wash resistance are increasingly demanded in today's exterior decorative coatings. Despite being affected by various factors, an acrylic or styrene-acrylic binder with lower water absorption creates a tightly sealed film to preserve its components and protective properties. When there is no emulsifier leakage with negative effects on paint performance, the probability of unwanted situations such as rain-marking occurring is further reduced. In tests conducted, these emulsifiers of ours create non-chalking, transparent films compared to alternatives, enabling the production of higher-performance paints and higher-quality, water-resistant binders accepted by the industry." he said. The emulsifiers launched by Clariant bring with them, in addition to their benefits to paints, the advantages of a smoother and more trouble-free binder production process. Since binders have smaller and more stable particles, they cause less clogging and coagulation compared to larger particles.
