Clariant Expands Its Contribution to Sustainability

To meet sustainability targets and fulfill commitments to a circular plastic economy, plastic goods manufacturers are increasingly using compostable polymers.

Clariant's Pigments business unit is contributing to this growth in compostable plastic goods with a range of certified OK compost INDUSTRIAL pigments offering customers new coloring opportunities. Nine selected products from Clariant's PV Fast® and Graphtol™ series now carry the OK compost INDUSTRIAL label, which fully meets the requirements of the European Union EN 13432: 2000 standard when not used above maximum concentration in the final application, representing an important contribution to sustainability. This certification enables our customers to use bright colors in their biodegradable products, as they are suitable for industrial composting." The PV Fast and Graphtol pigment powder series are high-performance organic pigments. Both product groups are used in various applications in the consumer goods sector, such as food-contact sensitive packaging, plastic tableware or dishes, or toys. For biodegradable polymers to be considered compostable, the pigments used in coloring must meet certain properties.
