Clariant Publishes 2025 Automotive Styling Shades Trendbook
Clariant, one of the world's leading pigment manufacturers, has released its new Automotive Styling Shades 2025 Trendbook for the first time in an interactive digital version.
Published every two years and eagerly anticipated, the Trendbook emphasizes how globalization has made color preferences more uniform worldwide compared to 20 years ago; white completed a decade of uninterrupted dominance, remaining the most preferred shade in 2020. Nevertheless, as the pandemic's effects recede, people across the globe are seeking joy, beauty and cultural exchange.

Bernhard Stengel-Rutkowski, Technical Manager of Automotive Coatings at Clariant, states: "The 2025 edition focuses on 'where color meets culture' by exploring the inspiration and emotion that colors bring to our lives and by predicting bright shades and metallic effects across diverse color families."
These are Daily Reset - shades that shift your mood for commuting to the office, Value-Based Culture - soft colors for peaceful and sustainable coexistence on the planet, Fast and Curious - shades that proclaim open-mindedness and confidence, and Rainbow Bridge - bold colors that leave a mark and refuse to follow the rules.
Clariant's organic pigments, pushing the boundaries of traditional formulation knowledge, help solve some coating formulation challenges arising from new, unconventional technologies. These include how to improve near-infrared reflectance for detection with LIDAR technology, which is required for autonomous vehicle safety, or the formulation of bright shades when metallic effect pigments are combined with colored organic pigments.
Color at Your Fingertips
Clariant is launching a virtual version of the Trendbook for the first time alongside its brand new online and interactive Car Color Configurator, offering customers a collection of 28 new trend colors for automotive coatings. Stengel-Rutkowski continues: "Trend colors can be selected virtually and applied to different car models ranging from sports cars to family minivans, and can be viewed in environments featuring neutral landscape, sunset, city landscape or infrared vision. This has been made possible by scanning a painted panel and converting the data into a format compatible with general processing software. The Car Color Configurator allows customers to compile their favorites in a personal brochure without needing to share their personal data." With the launch of this state-of-the-art tool, Clariant has combined its pigment and color formulation expertise with trend research and made these shades available digitally. https://www.clariant.com/en/Business-Units/Pigments/Coatings/Automotive-Coatings/Trendbook For more information on Clariant's organic pigment range for Automotive Coatings in general and in particular how the "Pigments in Focus" Hostaperm® Brown HFR 01, Hostaperm Blue BT-729-D and Hostaperm Blue BT-728-D create synergy with the new effect pigments in gold, orange, red and black shades.
