Clariant Names Gold as Decorative Coatings Trend for 2022
Clariant announced it will welcome the new year in gold tones with the launch of "2022 Decorative Coatings Trends" in December. A color palette containing 40 new gold shades designed to inspire anyone decorating their rooms, spaces and furniture is presented as a reflection of four distinct phases of human nature in our current age. Franziska Hammerl, General Manager of Clariant's Decorative and Wood Coatings Business Unit and Global Technical Marketing Manager for Clariant Coating Products, summarized the emotions the "2022 Decorative Coatings Trends" colors evoked in her, saying: "As we approach the end of another year, we are focusing more on our behaviors, lifestyles and desires, and we are excited thinking about what new things we can add to our lives and what we can re-experience with fresh eyes." The first phase of four distinct stages of human nature, "memotions", with poppy color accents and very calm color choices, represents our return to life at the point where we review our recent past to plan our future and redirect ourselves. This palette also contains the Color of the Year "memory gold", an antique gold tone with the right touch of luxury that inspires us to create new memories different from the past. To achieve an antique and lustrous gold tone, it is formulated with Clariant pigment preparations and blended with SHINEDECOR C393, the latest ready-to-use gold pearlescent effect pigment concentrate for water-based paints from Clariant's style partner Eckart. Franziska, stating that the new trend color palette will inspire consumers throughout 2022, said: "The memory gold color will always be present throughout 2022. Our new palette will also perfectly complement other color tinting and blocking techniques used by decorative paint brands. Therefore, the combination of neutrally achieved gold color and effect pigment will bring special meaning to homes and living spaces." The second phase, represented by the "Wembrace" palette, while much more colorful, is still composed of calm, nature-inspired greens, beiges and blues. It reflects breathing again after our return to life, the emotions felt in this moment and happiness. "Wescalate" contains highly colorful tones. It represents the third phase, designed to give us the feeling of moving beyond our previous comfort zones by giving ourselves chances for new opportunities in life. While blue tones continue to dominate, intense colors such as pink, orange and turquoise accompany these tones. Ideal to use as accent colors while creating a focal point without overwhelming the room. Finally, the "metox" palette features cooler, calm colors. Grays, blues, greens and beige tones serve as key colors that can be used for complete color schemes in our homes. It reminds us that when all this excitement of building subsides, it is time to return to who we really are.
