CHEMEON eTCP® Receives MIL-DTL Approval
CHEMEON® Surface Technology eTCP powder coating, a safe, economical and easily transportable corrosion protection solution, has been approved for use as a conversion coating on all aluminum alloys and other light metal surfaces in accordance with MIL-DTL-5541F/MIL-DTL-81706B specifications. CHEMEON's MIL-SPEC chemical composition is compliant with REACH, RoHS, WEEE and SVHC.
CHEMEON Chief Executive Officer Dr. Madylon Meiling stated, "eTCP is the only MIL-DTL-approved replacement for hexavalent chromium (CrVI, Cr6+), which possesses carcinogenic properties, and it includes visual verification that parts have been coated and protected.
Prior to eTCP's development, there was a significant quality control issue and material waste in reworked batches where applicators could not determine whether a coating had been applied or whether a part had been completely covered.
In the past, the industry relied on training and limited testing to address this concern, and color deficiency was a major barrier to the implementation of trivalent chromium, the older chemical replacing hexavalent chromium. Our development of eTCP powder coating and the recent MIL-DTL specification approval exemplify our company's continued mission to deliver innovative technology that supports the sustainability goals of global aerospace, defense, OEMs, prime contractors and commercial metal finishers, while simultaneously providing both safety and cost savings for our valued customers," he said.
CHEMEON's patented eTCP powder coating is listed in the Qualified Products List/Database (QPL/QPD) Form II, Method C, and is included in the company's MIL-DTL chemical package, which comprises TCP-HF (Trivalent Chromium Treatment - Non-Hexavalent), eTCP RTU (ready-to-use) formulated for brush, spray and immersion use, Touch-Up Pens for OEM, MRO, Prime Contractor and field kit use, TCP-HF EPA (extra protection additive), TCP-HF Spray (concentrate) and TCP-NP.

Historically, this was only provided by hexavalent chromium conversion coatings. Finding a solution to this industry need directed our R&D focus toward eTCP development and obtaining its patent.
