Paint Manufacturer Mowilex Completes Major Solar Energy Investment
Carbon-neutral paint manufacturer PT Mowilex Endonezya (Mowilex) announced completion of a major investment that will power the company's headquarters with renewable solar energy and further reduce carbon emissions, as G20 members convened in Bali. The company plans to install panels at its Cikande facility as well, and will eventually bring solar energy to all operating facilities.
A new solar carport canopy at Mowilex headquarters now provides shade for parked vehicles while capturing sunlight. The system produces the maximum energy output permitted under current state utility regulations and will reduce Mowilex's carbon emissions at this facility by up to 30%.
Solar Project Cuts Emissions Further While Supporting Two National Goals
Indonesia's first and only net-zero manufacturer is expanding its carbon-neutral commitment with the deployment of solar energy. Mowilex, a producer of premium paints, wood coatings and construction coatings, obtained its first CarbonNeutral® certification four years ago. The solar energy project cuts emissions further while supporting two national goals. Indonesia aims to use 25% renewable energy by 2030 and targets net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. Tania Wakhidah Ariningtyas, who directs PT Mowilex Endonezya's sustainability initiatives, stated: "The transition from fossil fuels to renewable solar energy reduces Mowilex's carbon footprint without carbon offsets. This carbon reduction process underscores our commitment to environmental leadership." The company unveiled the solar energy installation at the 2022 G20 Leaders' Summit in Bali, where world leaders discussed clean energy, climate and the economy. Mowilex supports numerous projects aligned with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including initiatives promoting renewable energy, biodiversity and responsible community development.
