Developments in the paints and coatings sector evaluated in full

At the paintistanbul&Turkcoat Fair conference program, leading names in the paints sector gathered for a panel titled "Developments in the Paints Sector within the Framework of Current Regulations." The panel shared information on regulations affecting the paints sector. The paintistanbul&Turkcoat fair, organized in cooperation with Artkim Fuarcılık and BOSAD, opened its doors to visitors as of 8 May. The three-day fair at Istanbul Fuar Merkezi will bring together the paints sector and host expert speakers. On the fair's first day, the panel "Developments in the Paints Sector within the Framework of Current Regulations" took place moderated by Halil Kuzucu, EMEA Sales Director at Univar Solutions. Panelists included Dr. Derya Erçıkan, General Secretary of TKSD; Fidan Bal, R&D Manager at DYO; Gül Öztoprak Parlak, Turkey Branch Manager at Thor Specialities; and Zeynep Çakır, Product Safety and Trade Controls Manager at BASF. New regulations discussed The panel shared information on regulations affecting the paints sector. TKSD General Secretary Derya Erçıkan provided detailed information about new regulations and directives affecting the chemical sector worldwide. Gül Öztoprak, Turkey Branch Manager at Thor Specialities, shared the effects of biocidal products among the most hazardous raw materials and provided detailed information on regulations concerning biocidal products. BASF Product Safety and Trade Controls Manager Zeynep Çakır provided detailed information on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and conveyed to the audience the work conducted by the REACH working group established within BOSAD. Consumers turning toward more sustainable products DYO R&D Manager Fidan Bal discussed the impact of these regulations on R&D activities. Bal noted that following the pandemic, consumers have increasingly turned toward more sustainable products and stated that they remain committed to sustainable development targets in R&D work. Bal indicated that innovative work carried out by R&D teams could pave the way for regulation-compliant production. The panel, where regulations affecting the paints sector were evaluated by industry experts, drew considerable interest from fair visitors.
