Ara Cool

Ara Cool curing agents open new opportunities in industrial coatings through rapid curing in very cold air conditions. Ara Cool curing agents allow formulators and applicators working in cold conditions to break new ground by meeting their needs while reducing VOC levels. The systems also achieve extremely fast cure properties while providing usable pot life in ultra-high solids formulations above 10°C.

1) Ara Cool 3077 Distinctive Features

• SVHC-free: no Bisphenol A, phenol or alkylphenols,
• Free of benzyl alcohol (Low Emission),
• Good surface properties even at low temperatures (low yellowing tendency),
• Low mixing ratio (AHEW = 70 - 75),
• Low viscosity (400 – 600 mPa.s).

Customer Benefits

• Very high reactivity: curing in 3 hours at 10°C,
• Good mechanical properties,
• Versatile product: can replace phenolic-based hardeners due to its SVHC-free content.

Applications

• Multi-purpose hardener,
• Good surface appearance even at low curing temperatures
• 0 VOC anticorrosive primer (5-10°C),
• Auxiliary hardener to increase system reactivity.

1) Ara Cool 1034XW90

Distinctive Features

• Ultra-high solids anticorrosive hardener for curing down to 5°C,
• Very long pot life relative to exceptionally low temperature reactivity.

Customer Benefits

• Permits very low VOC formulations with better labeling compared to existing products,
• Excellent hardness even at 0-5°C,
• Excellent flexibility and adhesion to sprayed surfaces,
• Induction time not required to eliminate yellowing risk under adverse conditions (humid and cold).

Applications

• Anticorrosive coatings at low temperatures on pre-treated steel,
• Applicable for marine and maintenance,
• Many general-purpose protective/decorative paints.

2) Ara Cool 1047W80

Distinctive Features

• Excellent adhesion to critical surfaces (non-grit-blasted),
• Very fast curing even at 0°C and below,
• No SVHC: free of bisphenol A, phenol or alkylphenols,
• Low VOC and better labeling compared to existing products.

• Promotes fast hardening at 5°C or lower temperatures,
• Excellent surface properties and recoatability even in humid, cold air conditions,
• Excellent flexibility and adhesion on weakly pre-treated surfaces.
