AkzoNobel and Microsoft Partnership
AkzoNobel and Microsoft have joined forces to explore how quantum computing can help accelerate the development of high-performance and more sustainable paints and coatings.
Scientists from both organizations will work together to ultimately create a virtual laboratory. The aim will be to conduct experiments using quantum computing and other Microsoft Azure cloud services.
Quantum chemical computing has the ability to simulate chemical reactions at an unprecedented level of accuracy. Microsoft and AkzoNobel will jointly explore how this can contribute to creating more advanced and sustainable products through collaborative experimentation and development.

Quantum chemistry offers game-changing industrial applications and opportunities. It can help overcome many of the practical limitations associated with traditional laboratory methods, such as raw material availability, physical equipment capacity constraints, toxicity and environmental conditions.
As a result, it can significantly reduce the time needed to make products more sustainable, find substitute content to replace scarce raw materials, or develop new functionalities.
