AkzoNobel Supports the Fight Against Covid-19
Chinese authorities announced they were rapidly constructing a hospital in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. AkzoNobel said it had taken action to provide support.
The facility was being built as an expansion project to the existing Fourth People's Hospital in Ningxia. However, the work had taken place during the Spring Festival in February. The project faced a shortage of paint. AkzoNobel quickly moved to donate 450 cans of Dulux Pro interior emulsion in the project's early days. As part of an urgent local response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it supported the timely completion of new buildings (in just 15 days).
Mark Kwok, President of AkzoNobel China and North Asia, said: "When we realized there was a problem with paint supply for the project, we did not hesitate to offer our assistance. We did everything we could to ensure the new buildings were constructed on schedule so we could help people as quickly as possible."
The new structure is being used for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. So far, it was reported that all 36 COVID-19 cases handled at the facility had been treated and patients discharged.
