Advanced surface cleaning global company acp systems is expanding the application scope of quattroClean snow jet technology with an innovative two-component ring nozzle. The new technology reduces carbon dioxide and compressed air consumption by up to 15%.
acp systems has developed an innovative ring nozzle that delivers pulsed jet spraying to broaden the reach of cost-effective and environmentally friendly cleaning methods. Operating without wear, this nozzle contains a valve specially designed by acp and enables pulse durations as short as 20 milliseconds.
Unlike standard valves operated by pilot control, direct valve control prevents icing and thus ensures reliable operation and consistently superior results. Spraying and pause times can be adjusted independently, allowing pulses to be optimally adapted to the cleaning sequence specific to the relevant application and component.
Additionally, pulsed jet minimizes both CO2 emissions and compressed air consumption. Savings of between 10 to 15% can be achieved depending on pulse duration.
The pulsed jet of CO2 and compressed air possesses higher kinetic energy than a continuous jet, making it somewhat more abrasive. This opens the door to potential applications that conventional CO2 snow jet cleaning previously had to avoid.
These include, for example, the removal of weld spatter loosely adhering after welding operations and the cleaning of particulate contamination adhering to metallic components due to dried process residues. The pulsed nozzle also offers advantages in cleaning flux residues and particles from adhesive surfaces.
The nozzle can also be used to remove partial film residues following hot stamping or the lamination of aluminum onto plastic parts. At the same time, the pulsed jet of CO2 and compressed air has sufficient cleaning power to remove fine burrs from aluminum and zinc die castings.
Furthermore, this technology can be used to simultaneously remove and clean burrs from hard and brittle plastics such as PEEK and PPS. When processing these plastic and aluminum parts, the new two-component ring nozzle also offers optimization potential.
When used as an alternative to conventional cooling lubricants, cold snow crystals made from carbon dioxide deliver higher chip removal rates, increasing productivity and reducing tool wear.
