We Conducted an Interview with İsmail Çiçek

In the interview we conducted, Paintrob Robotic Painting Technologies General Manager İsmail Çiçek provided information about the company's areas of operation and the products they offer.

Could you briefly tell us about yourself, your education, and your professional background in the industry?

I was born in 1983 in Osmangazi district, Bursa. I am married and father to a 10-year-old daughter. After completing the Electrical Engineering program at Atatürk EML, I finished the Electronics program at Uludağ University. My career journey began at an automotive parts supplier company in Bursa. Starting as maintenance supervisor at the robotic paint shop facility, I progressed to management positions. Over 11 years with the company I worked for, I contributed to the painting of millions of parts and gained extensive experience in paint processes. With this turning point, I founded Paintrob, the company I had dreamed of, in 2018 and began my entrepreneurial journey to engineer Robotic Painting Application systems in Turkey and worldwide. Could you outline the development process since your company's foundation? Which areas does Paintrob operate in?

Since 2018, we began our paint industry journey primarily by providing robotic software, training and consulting services to our customers, especially in the automotive and automotive parts industries. From 2018 onwards, with my young and dynamic team that I have developed, we continue to serve our customers by executing turnkey robotic painting application projects. Particularly with our customers' transition to robotic painting applications in their paint processes, we support them in developing quality, consumption and productivity while providing them with competitiveness in their sectors.

Could you tell us about the sectors you serve?

We provide services in the automotive, automotive parts, white goods, machinery and general industrial sectors. Robotic painting application investments were previously widely used in the automotive sector, but in recent years there has been significant demand particularly in the white goods and general industrial sectors. Following the pandemic period, our customers have shown intense interest in robotic painting applications to prevent disruption to their production.

Could you provide information about Paintrob's domestic and international operations?

In addition to many diverse projects we have completed domestically, in recent years we have integrated dozens of painting robots for our customer operating in the automotive parts sector in Mexico and Romania, contributing to their production processes.

Could you provide information about your paint shop facilities and painting robots?

With Devilbiss, BINKS, Ransburg, BGK, and Industra products for which we are distributors, we ensure standard and stable production across all our paint shop facilities, tailored to each customer's process without compromising on quality. We play a role in engineering and integration processes using painting robots from brands such as Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, Staubli and Kawasaki. Painting robots, in addition to operating flawlessly in explosive environments, ensure that our customers' quality standards and consumption quantities reach a stable state. At the same time, with the increase in production efficiency, production continues without compromising quality standards, even when facility capacities are at their highest levels. With advancing software technologies, ease of robot operation and programming provide our customers with the opportunity to transition to robotic production.

Could you discuss the importance and potential of robotic painting technologies in painting and coating operations?

With robotic painting application technologies, the application can be at the desired quality standard regionally and locally, and paint film thicknesses can also be applied at desired values. In this way, consumption of paint chemicals, which is a very important consumable item for paint processes, will also be minimized.

With our extensive experience in the automotive sector, we clearly understand our customer's paint process problems, requirements and expectations. We want to always be at the center of the solution by meeting expectations without compromising quality standards and bringing what is required to the appropriate level.
