Sanofi Contributes EUR 110 Million to Country's Economy Sanofi brings different technologies to Turkey's pharmaceutical sector through investments exceeding EUR 1 billion in total, while its local production contributes EUR 110 million annually to the country's economy. Sanofi Turkey shared another significant investment in domestic production during a press conference held today. The company introduced a manufacturing technology to its Lüleburgaz plant and Turkey's pharmaceutical industry that positively supports patient treatment adherence in benign prostatic hyperplasia, one of today's chronic diseases, following a 3-year preparation phase. The three-layer tablet production technology represents a first for Turkey's pharmaceutical sector. Cem Öztürk, Country President of Sanofi Turkey and Head of Sanofi Turkey, Africa and Middle East Essential Products, commented on the matter as follows: "As Sanofi, we produce, provide healthcare solutions and invest in our country with our 65-year footprint in Turkey. Technology advances at such a pace that if you want to provide patients with the most advanced treatment solutions and lead your sector, you must maintain continuous investments. Thanks to the investment and technology transfer we announced today, we have brought three-layer tablet production technology, found in only 8 medicines in the world, to our Lüleburgaz plant and our country. By starting to produce our product in Turkey, we continue to contribute to the country's economy with our local production reaching EUR 110 million annually, which is a source of happiness and pride for us." Technology that makes a difference for patients

Geomatrix technology, introduced to Turkey for the first time through Sanofi's investment and technology transfer, enables a medicine in three-layer tablet form. In three-layer tablets, the active substance is located in the core section while this substance is wrapped by two layers found in the upper and lower sections. Thus, instead of taking multiple medicines throughout the day, the single medicine you take has an effect covering 24 hours. With this feature, the technology makes a difference for patients and also minimizes unwanted effects.
Preparation took 3 years
Today, Sanofi's third-largest manufacturing facility worldwide, which produces one of every 7 medicine boxes in Turkey and exports products to 49 countries including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Japan, underwent a 3-year preparation process for this technology transfer at its Lüleburgaz plant. The newly formed team traveled to the Tours plant in Lyon, France for training. A special area was created in the plant for this production. Following the installation of the printing machine equipped with three-layer tablet printing technology, the facility gained the capability to produce tablets with this feature. A technical file containing the obtained data was prepared and submitted to the Turkish Ministry of Health, and with the Ministry's approval, commercial production began in March 2023.
