Janssen Names New Regional Business Leader

Janssen Names New Regional Operations Leader Johnson & Johnson, one of the world's largest healthcare companies, has appointed Demet Russ, Country General Manager for Turkey, to lead the pharmaceutical group Janssen's new operating region comprising Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan. As part of structural changes implemented within Janssen, the pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson, which draws on 136 years of scientific heritage, innovative perspective and global vision, a new operating region encompassing Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan was established as of 1 September 2022. Demet Russ, Country General Manager for Turkey, will assume management of the new operating region for Janssen, which has operated in more than 150 countries worldwide and in Turkey for nearly a quarter century. Asgar Rangoonwala, Senior President responsible for Janssen Emerging Markets, noted that this structural change, implemented to effectively address the health needs of a population of 140 million within the new region, will pave the way for sustainable success in the region and create greater value for patients and stakeholders. He expressed confidence that teams will continue to strengthen under Demet Russ's visionary leadership.   Demet Russ A member of the Janssen family for 17 years, Demet Russ began her career at Janssen Germany in 2005 and has held seven different positions in local, regional and global roles in Belgium, France, the United States and Turkey. Following a regional role in Belgium, Russ was appointed as Country Finance Director in France, subsequently took on financial management of the Global Research & Development Operations Group in the United States, and most recently served as Janssen EMEA Vice President of Finance, playing an active role in directing the region's growth strategy. During a four-year period in which she was responsible for portfolio management, improving financial performance, and managing risks and opportunities, she contributed to achieving growth of up to 50 percent. Demet Russ has served as Janssen Turkey Country General Manager since January 2020 and simultaneously holds the position of Vice Chair at the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (AIFD), where she undertakes sponsorship roles in various working groups.
