Eighty percent of the fund will be allocated to financial leasing for SMEs to accelerate their transition to a low-carbon economy; 10 percent will be directed to blue finance projects such as water resource protection and waste management; and the remaining 10 percent will be reserved for SMEs supporting gender equality to access financing. Enterprises with high ratios of female employees, women in management positions, and holding a Gender Equality Certificate will be evaluated under this scope.
The credit agreement was announced to the public on 19 June 2025, Thursday, at a ceremony held at DenizBank Headquarters with the participation of DenizLeasing General Manager Burak Koçak and IFC Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan Financial Institutions Regional Director Momina Aijazuddin.
"We will increase our support for projects serving sustainability"
DenizLeasing General Manager Burak Koçak stated in his assessment on the matter that they are greatly pleased to have realized this cooperation with an internationally respected institution such as IFC, which will create not only financial but also environmental and social impact. Koçak said: "As DenizLeasing, we regard contributing to the sustainability and green transformation journeys of SMEs throughout Turkey as our strategic priority. In this context, we allocate a significant portion of the resources we provide to financing SMEs' investments aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprint and environmental risks.
On the other hand, we support projects that prioritize the sustainability of the water ecosystem, which maintains the carbon balance of our planet and is of great importance for the continuity of life. Beyond our environmental responsibilities, increasing the representation of women in the business world and making the productivity impact they provide to the economy more visible and sustainable holds particular importance for us. With the USD 75 million in resources we are providing, we are pleased to make a concrete contribution to Turkey's sustainable growth targets and green transformation vision. In the coming period, we will continue to work for our country and our future by further increasing our support for projects serving objectives we have set out in social, economic and environmental dimensions."
"We are contributing to Turkey's net-zero targets"
IFC Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan Financial Institutions Regional Director Momina Aijazuddin stated in her assessment on the matter: "We are pleased to undertake this important cooperation with DenizLeasing in sustainability financing. Green and blue finance methods significantly support sustainable economic growth. By directing the said fund toward renewable energy and energy efficiency investments, we are contributing to Turkey's achievement of net-zero targets. The resources we allocate to blue finance projects serving water resource protection are a concrete demonstration of our commitment to protecting ecosystems and the natural balance of our planet. At the same time, we are extremely pleased to facilitate access to financing for SMEs, which form the backbone of Turkey's economy and account for more than 70 percent of employment, to fulfill their environmental responsibilities. By strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises to grow their businesses; with our support for companies increasing women's employment, we are also promoting gender equality."
