3M strengthens its position in worker safety with acquisition of Scott Safety

3M acquires Scott Safety, global leader in personal protective equipment sector, including supplied-air respirators and gas detection devices for firefighting applications

3M has acquired Scott Safety from Johnson Controls for a total enterprise value of USD 2 billion. Scott Safety is one of the world's leading suppliers of firefighting equipment, supplied-air respirators (SCBA), and gas detection devices—key categories within the personal protective equipment sector.

This acquisition will strengthen 3M's position in occupational safety and personal protective equipment, a key strategic priority, and mark the beginning of a new phase in which the company will offer customers supplied-air respirators, mobile gas detectors, and thermal cameras that were not previously part of its portfolio.

Levent Oğuz, Country Director of 3M Turkey Safety and Graphics, stated that the acquisition of Scott Safety will expand the product range they offer globally and in Turkey:

Scott Safety is one of the leading global suppliers of firefighting personal protective equipment and gas detection devices, among the fastest-growing security categories within the global personal protective equipment sector.

Demand for personal protective equipment is growing rapidly, driven by regulatory authorities in both developed and developing countries placing increasing focus on worker safety.

Scott Safety's quality products and solutions include supplied-air respirators sold under the globally recognized brand Propak, gas detectors, air-fed systems and escape sets, and impact-absorbing hard hats.

The 3M Occupational Safety Division, operating within 3M's Safety and Graphics Group, focuses on improving worker safety and security.
