Zeren Metal Continues Green Transformation with Strong Steps

Zeren Metal, an aluminium-sector operator, is accelerating its transition to low-carbon production through a "Green Transformation Roadmap" developed in line with its sustainable production vision. Under the programme, shaped in alignment with European Green Deal targets, the company aims to reduce its environmental impact by focusing on energy efficiency and renewable energy investments.

According to the roadmap announced by the company operating within Zeren Group, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects are planned to deliver approximately 4.5 million kWh annual energy savings and achieve 1,777 tonnes of CO₂e emission reductions. Within this scope, the implementation of 10 different applications with an average payback period of 6 years is envisioned.

The company is pursuing a transformation strategy aligned with the European Union's "Fit for 55" package, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. In this direction, energy monitoring systems, high-efficiency equipment usage, process optimisation and solar energy investments are among priority areas. Roof and land-type solar power plant (SPP) projects in particular will play a critical role in reducing carbon footprint.

Zeren Metal General Manager Murat Akkaş, in his assessment of the project, stressed that green transformation is not only an environmental necessity but also an economic and strategic one, noting that they aim to make production processes more efficient and competitive. Akkaş stated that alongside energy cost savings during this process, access to green financing options would increase and innovation-focused business models would be developed.

The company places importance on raising internal awareness alongside technological investments. Through training programmes, workshop sessions and seminars held within this scope, active employee participation in the process is ensured while raising environmental responsibility awareness across the organisation.

Zeren Metal's green transformation strategy extends beyond company operations to create wider environmental and social benefits. By reducing carbon emissions, the company contributes to climate change mitigation, while efficient use of natural resources, waste reduction and promotion of circular economy approaches are also among priority targets.
