New Antiblocking Agents Developed for High-Clarity Polymer Films

Evonik has launched two new precipitated silica products for use as anti-block agents: SPHERILEX® 60 AB and SPHERILEX® 30 AB. Anti-block agents are essential additives used in plastic film production. These additives help facilitate film wrapping processes and improve film performance characteristics during subsequent operations. Both SPHERILEX® products are manufactured using a new, patented production process that enables spherical particle shape, controllable particle size, and narrow particle size distribution. SPHERILEX® 60 AB has been developed for standard PE and PP-based films, while SPHERILEX® 30 AB is specifically designed for ultra-thin films such as biaxially oriented films. By combining the aforementioned product characteristics, these materials can be used as high-performance anti-block agents in blown and cast films containing polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polyamide (PA).
