Tomorrow Is Ours Social Responsibility Project

YarınBizim Social Responsibility Project The "YarınBizim" social responsibility project, which the Sabancı Group launched for the first time last year to provide a better future for the children of healthcare workers who were the true heroes of the pandemic period and to prepare them for life and career, continues to stand by young people this year as well. Applications for the project, which is designed to support the academic and personal development of young people with at least one parent working in healthcare and preparing for university entrance exams while preparing them for their future careers, began on 13 October. Through career planning and vocational information sessions as well as personal awareness and motivation training that helps young people navigate this challenging period, the project's focus this year is "Responsible Youth."

Drawing Strength from Volunteering

The YarınBizim project, which has begun its second phase through the efforts of Sabancı Volunteers and the Group's volunteering vision, is being implemented for the second time for the children and siblings of healthcare workers preparing for university. As in the past year, this year the project, supported by Sabancı Volunteers as well as many prominent figures from media and public opinion, contributes to preparing young people for the future through its rich content, career support programmes and personal development training. Young people preparing to meet inspiring names and benefit from their knowledge and experience are once again accompanied by mentor figures throughout this challenging process. Within the scope of "mentorship partnership" designed by drawing on the power of volunteering, mentors assigned to each young person in accordance with their future aspirations continue to serve as role models through their accumulated knowledge and inspiring stories. The project, which mobilises all the advanced technological capabilities of the Sabancı Group, supports the education process of young people during this challenging period while also helping them discover their talents, develop their competencies, raise their potential and manage their learning processes. The Sabancı Group, which was the only company from Turkey and the region invited to a meeting held by the United Nations last year to support volunteering activities worldwide, was selected among "best practice" examples with its Sabancı Volunteers programme. With its cultural heritage spanning over 90 years, the Sabancı Group continues its vision of leading projects that impact society and people, pioneering social development in Turkey. This is precisely why "Responsible Youth" is the focus of the project this year. Based on a sense of responsible citizenship, the project content this year plans to convey the importance of volunteering to these young people who will build the future. Through this scope, the project, enriched with volunteering workshops and inspiring stories, aims to contribute to the "volunteering" journey of young people who will build the future.

Medicine Ranks First in Career Choice

In the project's first phase, 626 mentors participated as volunteers, while 698 young people from 65 provinces across Turkey participated in mentoring programmes, career support programmes and personal development training. By meeting with inspiring figures and benefiting from their knowledge and experience, young people also made use of much content that would support their development. The benefits of the project do not stop there. The YarınBizim project contributed to young people's goal-setting, increased self-confidence, coping with stress, gaining different perspectives and most importantly overcoming feelings of loneliness. Mentors noted that through this project their awareness of volunteering increased, their skills in communicating with young people developed, and they developed new ideas and perspectives. The YarınBizim young people achieved significant success in the university entrance exam held in this challenging year. Medicine and engineering education led in the young people's career preference ranking, followed by law and psychology. The universities most preferred by young people included İstanbul University, Boğaziçi, ODTÜ, Sabancı University, Akdeniz and Ege Universities, as well as Cerrahpaşa and Hacettepe University.

About Participation and Application

The children and siblings of healthcare workers who are in their final year of high school and preparing for university can participate in the project.
