Construction Sector on the Road to Growth

The Building Fair – Turkeybuild Istanbul 2020, where construction sector trends will be discussed and the latest building technologies and construction products will be exhibited, is drawing attention this year as well with topics that set the direction for the industry. In the sector, agile transformation and sustainable growth concepts are among the most important topics of the Fair. Hyve Group, which organizes fairs for Turkey's key economic sectors and brings together thousands of foreign investors with local business partners every year, is holding the 43rd Building Fair – Turkeybuild Istanbul at TÜYAP Fair and Convention Centre between 24 – 28 August 2020. The Building Fair, the largest in the region covering the Balkans, CIS countries, Middle East and North Africa, and ranked among the world's top 5 fairs in its sector, will welcome visitors from around the world over 5 days. Organized by Hyve Group with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Commerce, the Fair aims to create new business, partnership and purchasing opportunities this year as well, by transferring its strong global network to the construction sector. Turkeybuild Istanbul provides a productive platform full of business development activities to support sector strategy, facilitate knowledge exchange, encourage innovation and enable the introduction of new ideas by fostering interaction between the public, private and academic dimensions of the construction sector. The Fair, which was visited by a total of 68,738 people from 135 countries in 2019, also hosted representatives from 555 organizations from 12 different countries as participants. In 2020, these figures are expected to increase in line with the dynamics of the domestic and foreign markets.

5 Special Themes Over 5 Days on the Building Stage

The Building Stage, which will be set up at the Building Fair this year, will host architecture and business-focused panels, partnership sessions, discussions on exports, foreign markets, new design and technology tools and inspiring conferences. As agile management approaches based on adaptation to changing conditions and sustainable success are becoming part of the construction sector's agenda worldwide, the panel titled "THE SECRET TO SUSTAINABLE GROWTH IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR IS AGILE TRANSFORMATION" will discuss the topic in detail. This meeting, organized in cooperation with Change Architect Innovative Management Consulting Founder Demet Demirer, will serve as an example in the Construction Sector for adapting agile transformation and new-generation management approaches to business needs and realizing the potential within the organization. Within the framework of 5 special themes over 5 days, expert speakers, sector thought leaders, decision makers and fair-participating companies will come together on a common thinking platform and contribute to sectoral information flow. On Monday, 24 August, during the BUILDING BUSINESS day; construction financing, exports, new markets and new business development models will be discussed. Economists will evaluate the construction sector and discuss the added value that adaptive reuse in buildings will create as a new field. On Tuesday, 25 August, during the BUILDING ENVIRONMENT day; earthquake-resistant construction, ecological buildings, climate change and renewable energy will be discussed. Wednesday, 26 August, the fair's 3rd day, will be BUILDING INDUSTRY day. Topics to be covered will be processes and new approaches that will ensure the sector's sustainable growth and profitable transformation. Marketing approaches, facility management, Generation Z purchasing dynamics, agile transformation and innovative business models will be priority topics. On 27 August, during the BUILDING DESIGN day, architects will question new ways of "building".

Sessions focusing on smart cities with global design initiatives in mind and the value design adds to brands will be held.

Friday, 28 August will be organized as BUILDING TECH day, and the Building Fair, preparing to bring together startups with institutions operating in the construction and real estate sectors, will welcome young entrepreneurs who say "my product accelerates the sector" and develop technology and scalable products specific to the sector. The traditional Presidents Forum has also been repositioned under different themes this year, transforming into a series of meetings spread over 4 days. "Where We Stand in Building Exports and Beyond", "Sector Innovations Developed Against Natural Disasters", "Building Operating Models" and "New Ways of Building" will be topics addressed by thought-leading association presidents representing different stakeholders of the sector. Building Masterclass; being organized for the third time this year, will continue to be a focus of visitor interest. The Building Fair has prepared a special program over three days that includes visits to the stands of material companies and conversations with master architects and engineers. On 25-26-27 August, in cooperation with Nobon, the event specially designed for 3 days with themes of "Environment, Operations and Design" provides information exchange through material discussions at the fair stands and conversations focused on thematic frameworks, offering participants an interactive environment with on-site material applications.

Building Tech Garage

Over the last 15-20 years, entrepreneurial perspective and data-driven work have fundamentally changed the way of doing business in many sectors. The construction sector is one of the sectors that has benefited the least from these developments, which is why its way of doing business is still largely based on traditional foundations and holds great potential for innovation. Similarly, even though entrepreneurs create outputs that will bring about major transformation for companies, they struggle to connect with the sector and present themselves. As the Building Fair, one of our efforts towards our sustainable sectoral growth mission is the BUILDING TECH GARAGE project jointly developed with Change Architect Innovative Management Consulting. Within the scope of this project, which creates a bridge between entrepreneurs and the construction sector; startups working on smart construction materials, BIM, virtual reality, augmented reality, management tools, building mobile applications, 3D manufacturing, robotic manufacturing and Internet of Things will introduce technologies that offer different opportunities to architects, engineers, project managers, manufacturers, contractors, developers, marketers and users from the design phase to the building delivery phase.
