Turkey's WindEurope Istanbul Bid Seen as Crucial to Its Global Energy Position
According to TÜREB and WindEurope data, Türkiye is projected to become Europe's 5th largest wind energy market by 2030. With its rapidly growing wind energy investments and industry, Türkiye is among the leading countries in the wind energy ecosystem in Europe and worldwide, and aims to reinforce its ambition and potential in wind energy by hosting the WindEurope Annual Event 2028 in Istanbul.

With rapidly growing wind energy investments and industry, Turkey ranks among the leading countries in the European and global wind energy ecosystem and aims to strengthen its position and potential in wind energy by hosting the WindEurope Annual Event 2028 in Istanbul.
Our country, with wind energy installed capacity approaching 14 GW, ranks 6th in Europe and 12th in the world, consolidating its position as one of Europe's five largest wind energy producers in the wind energy industry.
Holding the event in Istanbul will be an important step in protecting the EU's borders, wind energy market and Turkey, while also increasing competitiveness during a period of accelerating trade wars. Thousands of industry stakeholders operating in different areas of the sector will gather in Istanbul, gaining access to markets in Turkey's neighboring geography and the opportunity to communicate with stakeholders in these markets.
In a statement from the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB), it was stated that "With the initiatives of the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB), the WindEurope Annual Event, which will leave the EU for the first time in its history, will enable the European wind energy ecosystem to expand its boundaries and scope of influence, increasing its commercial and political impact."
WindEurope candidacy is an important step for Turkey's 2035 energy targets
In a statement noting that Turkey's target in wind energy is to reach total installed capacity of 48 GW by 2035, comprising 43 GW onshore and 5 GW offshore, the following remarks were included: "If the WindEurope Annual Event, which is held annually in a different European city and includes the world's most important wind sector fair, a comprehensive congress bringing together policymakers and business, and special meetings, is awarded to Istanbul in 2028, the event will not only bring together Europe and Turkey, but will also create synergy by bringing together developing markets in the Balkans, Black Sea and Caspian regions with high onshore and offshore potential."
