Wacker's new headquarters in the Werksviertel district was designed using the latest sustainable building technology.

Wacker Chemie AG opened its new corporate headquarters in Munich at a ceremony attended by more than 100 guests. The approximately 18,000 square-meter new building located in Munich's Werksviertel district was designed by Danish architecture firm C.F. Møller using the latest sustainable building technology.

The innovative office concept offers an ultramodern and flexible working environment for approximately 600 employees across 5 floors. With Wacker House, the company is relocating its Munich headquarters from Neuperlach to the Werksviertel district. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Wacker Chemie AG President and CEO Christian Hartel said, "Wacker belongs to Munich just as the mountains belong to Bavaria. The company headquarters has been located here for over 100 years. During this time, Wacker has always managed to reinvent itself.

Ultimately, with our new corporate headquarters, we are not only opening an architecturally attractive state-of-the-art building that meets the highest sustainability standards: Wacker House also represents a new working world that is more modern, more flexible and more agile. Thus, this building serves as an important catalyst for creative ideas, innovation and ultimately entrepreneurial success."

Wacker House: Collaborative, efficient and sustainable

Wacker House consists of five floors, with each department having its own main headquarters. Everything within the building is designed for flexible and communicative work. The new headquarters is based on the concept that individual offices are now a thing of the past.

Employees can choose which rooms and equipment are most suitable for their current tasks and activities depending on their daily routines and schedules. Open areas, think tanks, work lounges, traditional project spaces and flexible individual offices ensure there is a perfect environment for every work activity.

From a technical standpoint, Wacker House meets the latest sustainability standards. The building's exterior facade has a transparent and curved mesh structure. The glass facade facilitates daylight entry into much of the building's interior, which is heated using locally generated district heating.

Triple-glazed windows and thermally insulated walls provide significant energy savings. Additionally, attention has been paid to economical material use through the application of prefabricated concrete panels. Rainwater collection tanks have been created to water the green areas and plants on the landscaped terraces. With these and many other measures, Wacker House aims to achieve LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) at the highest level, platinum level, recognized internationally.
