Double Award for Vefa İbrahim Aracı in Kocaeli

Two separate events held in Kocaeli brought social responsibility and university-industry collaboration to the fore. Businessman Vefa İbrahim Aracı was recognized with awards at two different ceremonies within a week for his contributions to society and support for higher education. First recognized at the "Solidarity Dinner with International Students" and "Hands of Kocaeli" program held under the social responsibility theme, Aracı subsequently received the "Rector's Special Award" at the Success and Encouragement Awards Ceremony organized for the first time this year by Kocaeli University.

At two separate events held in Kocaeli within the same week, social responsibility work and contributions to university-industry collaboration were recognized. Commendations given across topics ranging from education to science highlighted community benefit and academic-industry partnerships in the city.

Vefa İbrahim Aracı, Chairman of GEBKİM Specialty Chemicals Organized Industrial Zone and Chairman of the Board of KORUMA Company Group, who recently made public his candidacy for İKMİB Chairmanship, was recognized at two separate events in Kocaeli for his social contributions and support for university-industry collaboration. Aracı received the Social Responsibility and Loyalty Award for his social contributions, while at the Success and Encouragement Awards Ceremony organized for the first time this year by Kocaeli University, he was presented with the Rector's Special Award.

Solidarity Meeting with International Students
At the "Solidarity Dinner with International Students" and "Hands of Kocaeli" program organized by MÜSİAD Kocaeli, Aracı was recognized for his support to education, health and social responsibility projects implemented in the city. At the event bringing together international students and emphasizing community solidarity, the education investments brought to Kocaeli, support for youth and work focused on social benefit drew attention.

Rector's Special Award Presented for First Time
The second program of the week was the Success and Encouragement Awards Ceremony organized for the first time this year by Kocaeli University. The ceremony held at the Prof. Dr. Baki Komsuoğlu Culture and Convention Center took place under the hosting of Rector Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer Cantürk. The ceremony was attended by Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş, Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagu, and city officials. Numerous academics received awards in the fields of academic achievement, citations, publications, projects and patents, while special recognition was given to those making strategic contributions to the university. In this context, the Rector's Special Award was presented to Vefa İbrahim Aracı for his contributions to strengthening university-industry collaboration, support for scientific projects and work in education. The presentation of this award for the first time in the university's history drew attention.

University-Industry Collaboration Emphasis
In his opening remarks, Rector Cantürk drew attention to the increase in the university's research capacity and city-university integration, stating that the Success and Encouragement Awards aim to encourage academic production and make scientific effort visible. In his assessment, Aracı emphasized that university-industry collaboration holds strategic importance for both city and national development. He stated that they will continue to contribute to supporting scientific production, enabling youth access to quality education opportunities and strengthening university-industry integration.

Academic Achievements Recognized
At the ceremony, in addition to academic achievement awards, encouragement and unit awards were presented. Numerous academics in the fields of Natural and Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Projects and Patents received awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories. The Success and Encouragement Awards Ceremony was evaluated as an event where interdisciplinary collaboration and project culture were visible. The program concluded with a group photograph.
