UN Ro-Ro Sold to Denmark's DFDS for EUR 950 Million

According to a statement by Danish DFDS, UN Ro-Ro, a maritime cargo and vehicle transport operator, has been acquired for EUR 950 million. DFDS aims to expand its position in the Mediterranean with UN Ro-Ro. The statement noted that U.N. Ro-Ro is a profitable company and has doubled its market share compared to its nearest competitor in Turkey. The transaction is expected to be completed in June following approval from Turkish, Austrian, German and Italian competition authorities. UN Ro-Ro, one of Turkey's leading logistics companies, operates 12 Ro-Ro vessels. U.N. Ro-Ro operates 5 Ro-Ro lines between Turkey and Italy and between Turkey and France, leveraging its ownership of Pendik and Trieste ports. U.N. Ro-Ro's 500 employees and Turkish management team will remain in their positions, and U.N. Ro-Ro vessels will continue operations under Turkish flags. U.N Ro-Ro, Turkey's largest Ro-Ro cargo operator, holds a 35 percent market share.

Third Change of Ownership

In 2007, U.N. Ro-Ro was sold to KKR, one of the largest fund companies, for EUR 910 million. In 2014, KKR sold U.N. Ro-Ro to the Esas & Actera consortium. U.N Ro-Ro İşletmeleri A.Ş. stands out as one of the key players in the Eastern Mediterranean Ro-Ro sector.
