New Target for Trade with Turkmenistan: $5 Billion

Trade between Turkey and Turkmenistan exceeded USD 2 billion in 2025, reaching USD 2.2 billion.

Turkish exporters demonstrated strong interest in the 12th Turkmenistan Turkish Export Products Fair, held 10-12 February 2026, as they seek to increase bilateral trade to USD 5 billion. A total of 87 Turkish firms and organizations participated in the fair.

The opening of the Turkmenistan Turkish Export Products Fair was conducted by Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, Deputy Minister of Trade Ö. Volkan Ağar and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nökergulı Ataguliyev. Ege Exporters Unions Coordinator Vice Chairman Ege Demir and Chairman of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association Yalçın Ertan represented the Ege Exporters Unions.

We are second in Turkmenistan's imports; our goal is to rank first
Ege Exporters Unions Coordinator Vice Chairman Yalçın Ertan noted that Turkey's exports to Turkmenistan increased by 19.3% in 2025, rising from USD 885 million to USD 1,056 million, and emphasized that the historical and cultural ties between the two countries create favorable conditions for expanding foreign trade.

Underscoring balanced trade between the two countries, Ertan stated, "We hold a 19% share of Turkmenistan's annual USD 5.7 billion in imports. We rank second among countries from which Turkmenistan imports. By intensifying such contacts, we aim to become the leading supplier on Turkmenistan's import list."

Providing information on the sectors from which Turkey exported to Turkmenistan in 2025, Ertan continued: "Our steel sector and ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector rank first with USD 252 million in exports. The electrical and electronics sector and chemical sector account for USD 213 million and USD 185 million respectively, sharing the top three positions. In the food sectors, cereals, legumes and oilseeds rank first with USD 32 million, while our aquatic products and animal products sector exported USD 22 million. Our fresh fruits, vegetables and processed fruits and vegetables sectors recorded USD 6 million in exports."

Turkish poultry sector ranks second in exports
The Turkey Aquatic Products and Animal Products Sector participated in the Turkmenistan Turkish Export Products Fair in a joint stand, coordinated by the Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Union, together with the Mediterranean and Istanbul Exporters Unions.

Turkmenistan's 2024 aquatic products and animal products imports totaled USD 68 million, while Turkey supplied USD 14.5 million—including USD 8 million in poultry meat—making it the second-largest supplier after the United States. In 2025, Turkey supplied Turkmenistan with USD 20 million in aquatic products and animal products, including USD 16 million in poultry meat.

Turkish dried fruit sector establishes foothold in Turkmenistan
The Turkey Dried Fruits and Products Sector participated in the Turkmenistan Turkish Export Products Fair in a joint stand, coordinated by the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Union, together with the Southeastern Anatolia and Istanbul Exporters Unions. Turkey aims to increase its 2025 dried fruit exports to Turkmenistan from USD 1.6 million to USD 5 million.
