Filli Boya Invests TRY 120 Million in Factory in Balıkesir, Turkey's Rising Star

Filli Boya Capatect Thermal Insulation Systems is preparing to add a third insulation factory to the country with a TRY 120 million investment in Balıkesir, the hub of industrial investments, following its production facilities in Gebze and Kayseri. Having launched its thermal insulation operations in 2003 and assuming a leadership role in the sector through its work in insulation—which it views as a social responsibility project for Turkey's future—Filli Boya is preparing to build its third insulation factory on a 70,000 m2 site in Balıkesir. The land allocation signing ceremony for Filli Boya's third insulation factory was held in Balıkesir with the participation of Betek Boya General Manager Tayfun Küçükoğlu, Balıkesir Governor Ersin Yazıcı, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Edip Uğur, Balıkesir Chamber of Industry Chairman İsmail Uğur, and Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce Chairman Fahri Ermişler. Speaking at the land allocation signing ceremony, Betek Boya General Manager Tayfun Küçükoğlu stated that with the investment they will make in Balıkesir, they will establish a facility that will serve as a model for the insulation sector not only in Turkey but also in Europe. Noting that they operate with 1,200 employees nationwide, Küçükoğlu highlighted that the Balıkesir investment will create employment for 200 people in the city, including related sectors. Tayfun Küçükoğlu continued his remarks as follows: "With the investments being made, Balıkesir will play a very key role in the industrialization and modernization of our country. Our investment in Balıkesir will elevate us to the position of an exemplary company on a global scale in the insulation sector.

This is a very important investment for our sector. We are talking about an investment of approximately TRY 120 million. With its developing transportation links and logistical advantages in the coming period, Balıkesir will play an important role in our country's economy and development."

Noting the significant contributions of Filli Boya's work in insulation to date in reducing the country's current account deficit and lowering consumer energy expenditures, Küçükoğlu stated: "Our country has USD 75 billion in energy imports. This energy import needs to be reduced. The greatest energy savings can occur in residential buildings. Insulation can achieve a fifty-percent reduction in residential energy consumption. With the 125 million m2 of insulation we have applied to date, households have saved TRY 5 billion. 4.9 million of our citizens have benefited from insulation. We have had a tremendous impact on the environment. Through the insulation work we have done to date, 8.9 million tons of carbon dioxide have been prevented from being released into the atmosphere. This means we have performed the function of cleansing the atmosphere equivalent to a forest 6.5 times the size of Bolu forests. Since 2003, through our work, we have contributed to avoiding TRY 4.3 billion in natural gas imports. With all these aspects, we are working with a social responsibility motivation," he said. Balıkesir Chamber of Industry Chairman İsmail Uğur stated the following in his remarks at the ceremony: "Today is one of the important days for Balıkesir's economy. Filli Boya's new investment has become an even more significant investment for the Balıkesir region along with the employment mobilization. Balıkesir is the hub of industrial investments. Our Organized Industrial Zone has begun to attract significant investments in the past year. We are very pleased to welcome Filli Boya to Balıkesir and to see it make this investment. Filli Boya is not only investing in Balıkesir, but also investing in Turkey's future. We are also expecting other investors to come to Balıkesir." Following its production facilities in Gebze and Kayseri, Filli Boya Capatect Thermal Insulation Systems will continue to play a major role in the growth of the thermal insulation sector in our country through the Balıkesir investment. Filli Boya Makes Major Contribution to Our Country's Future Through Thermal Insulation

Betek Group, primarily through the Filli Boya Capatect brand, has enabled thermal insulation applications to approximately 165,000 buildings covering 125 million m2 since entering the thermal insulation sector with innovative products and technologies in 2003. In doing so, buildings achieved savings in heating alone that resulted in 4.2 billion m3 less natural gas consumption, and facilitated savings of approximately TRY 5 billion for 4.9 million households in total. Additionally, the applied thermal insulation prevented 8.9 million tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. This figure equals approximately 6.5 times the annual carbon dioxide absorption of Bolu Forests, while it equates to 16 percent of the carbon dioxide absorbed in one year by all forests across Turkey, which span a total of 21 million hectares.
