Turkish Healthcare Sector in Kenya

The İKMİB conducted approximately 230 bilateral business meetings between Turkish and Kenyan business representatives during the Kenya Sectoral Trade Delegation it organized between 17-21 February 2019, aiming to gain a significant competitive advantage in healthcare sector exports to East Africa. Turkish firms initiated business contact processes with 96 sector representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia. The Kenya Sectoral Trade Delegation organization was carried out by İKMİB with the participation of 12 representatives from 9 firms operating in the pharmaceutical, medical and dental sectors between 17-21 February 2019. At a meeting held on 19 February 2019 attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Nairobi Ahmet Cemil Miroğlu and Turkey's Nairobi Trade Adviser Murat Can Kılınç, approximately 230 bilateral business meetings (B2B) were conducted with participants from Kenya and neighboring countries. Turkish firm representatives who initiated business contact processes with 96 sector representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia stated that they established promising connections for exports to Kenya. Within the scope of the Kenya Sectoral Trade Delegation to the capital Nairobi, representatives of Asfarma, Berko, Boz Tıbbi, Dekim, Honnes, Nurteks (Borche), Polifarma, Submed and Tüm Ekip visited official institutions such as Pharmacy & Poisons Board Kenya and Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), obtaining detailed information from authorities regarding licensing procedures required for exports. Through market research conducted within the framework of the program, the production processes of Kenya's healthcare sector were examined through visits to various firms and pharmaceutical/medical warehouses.
