ISTANBUL (AA)- At the 30th International Istanbul Plastics Industry Fair Plast Eurasia, Turkish plastics sector representatives met with company representatives from Bulgaria, Algeria, Kosovo and Chile within the framework of a purchasing delegation organized by the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) and held bilateral business negotiations. According to a statement from İKMİB, İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister, İKMİB Board Accounting Member Tayfun Demir, İKMİB Audit Board members Halil Gökhan Can and Erkan Aydın, PLASFED Chairman Ömer Karadeniz and PAGDER Chairman Selçuk Gülsün visited participating companies and extended their congratulations. In the statement, Pelister noted that Plast Eurasia Istanbul, one of the most important fairs in the plastics sector, has brought the sector together on an international platform for 30 years and is Europe's largest plastics industry fair held annually. Pelister said they believed the fair was an important starting point for new business partnerships. Noting that İKMİB organized a purchasing delegation within the scope of the fair, Pelister made the following assessments: "We brought together buyers from countries with potential for our sector's exports with our Turkish plastics sector. This year we held the fair opening together with our TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle. At the fair, 137 of our İKMİB member exporting companies active in the plastics sector participated. The plastics sector ranks first among the 16 sub-sectors of our chemicals sector in terms of export volume. Plastics and products exports in the January-November period this year reached USD 8.14 billion. Compared to the same period last year, sector exports increased by 43.12%. We anticipate our sector's performance will continue to grow in the coming period."
