Exports from Thrace to the World Exports from Turkey's gateway to Europe, the Thrace region, continue to reach countries across the globe. The Thrace Region exported USD 274.3 million in a month, while imports reached USD 281.6 million. Turkish Statistical Institute Edirne Regional Directorate's May foreign trade statistics show that May exports were USD 5.5 million in Edirne, USD 237.2 million in Tekirdağ, and USD 31.6 million in Kırklareli. The Thrace Region recorded total exports of USD 274.3 million in that month. May imports were USD 5.6 million in Edirne, USD 262.6 million in Tekirdağ, and USD 13.4 million in Kırklareli. The Thrace Region recorded total imports of USD 281.6 million in May. In Turkey's May export rankings, the top three were Istanbul, Izmir and Kocaeli, while Tekirdağ ranked 14th, Kırklareli 32nd, and Edirne 64th. In Turkey's May import rankings, the top three were Istanbul, Kocaeli and Ankara, while Tekirdağ ranked 13th, Kırklareli 38th, and Edirne 52nd. In May, Edirne's largest exports went to Bulgaria and largest imports came from Ukraine. In Kırklareli, May's largest exports went to Venezuela and largest imports came from the Russian Federation, while in Tekirdağ, largest exports went to Germany and largest imports came from China. According to provisional foreign trade data produced under the general trade system created in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, May exports increased 15.3% compared to May of the previous year to USD 18 billion 984 million, while imports increased 43.5% to USD 29 billion 588 million.
