TİM President Gülle: "Export Performance Did Not Slow Down in March"

March export data were announced at a press conference held at the Ministry of Commerce in Ankara with the participation of Commerce Minister Ruhsar Pekcan and Turkey Exporters Council (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle. March exports reached USD 15.488 billion according to Special Trade System records, while the export-to-import coverage ratio stood at 87.9%. According to the General Trade System, exports totaled USD 16.334 billion. "As the working and young population continue to grow towards 2023 and 2030, we can make Turkey the most attractive investment center in Eurasia when we combine our efforts with a completely new 'human assets architecture,'" said İsmail Gülle, continuing as follows:

"A new tax architecture, a new financial architecture and a new supply chain architecture will come into effect starting in April.

Therefore, in this reform period, our economic management will produce tax reforms, financial reforms, and reforms that will enable new models and policies in production, employment and growth that will focus on our exporters in terms of production costs and global competitiveness." Recalling that they launched the "Paperless Export" application last week with Commerce Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, İsmail Gülle said: "The Ministry of Commerce, which has implemented or is in the process of implementing 13 separate digitalization projects, will implement the 'Paperless Export' application at all customs gates by the end of April. Trial processes have been completed at pilot customs gates. Through the 'Paperless Export' application, our 83,000 exporting companies will be able to submit documents electronically for a total of 154 documents related to exports without physically going to customs." In March, the Automotive sector again led with USD 2.9 billion. This sector was followed by Chemicals with USD 1.8 billion and Ready-Made Apparel and Clothing with USD 1.7 billion. The sectors with the largest export increases were Defense and Aerospace with a 95.5% growth rate, Shipbuilding and Yachts with 25.8%, and Cement, Glass and Ceramic Products with 18.9%. Looking at country data, the top 3 countries with the highest exports were Germany, United Kingdom and Italy respectively. The total share of EU countries in March exports was 48.7%. Looking at provincial exports, while 47 provinces increased their exports, the top 3 provinces with the highest exports were Istanbul, Bursa and Kocaeli respectively. The most notable increases occurred in Gümüşhane, Yalova and Yozgat.
