Chemical Industry Exports Reach $1.83 Billion in March

Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) stated that chemical exports in March reached USD 1.83 billion, representing a 17.4 percent increase compared to March 2018. The chemical industry, which demonstrated strong performance in March, secured the second-largest exporting sector position for the third consecutive time. The sector's three-month export total reached USD 4.988 billion, up 19.6 percent. İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister highlighted the chemical sector's March success, stating: "Our chemical sector achieved significant success in March, becoming the second-largest exporting sector once again. Chemical exports in March 2019 reached USD 1.83 billion, a 17.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. In the three-month period from January to March 2019, our chemical exports reached USD 4.988 billion. This represents a 19.6 percent increase compared to January-March 2018. We have managed to secure the second-sector position for the third consecutive time. We are advancing with firm steps towards our promised sustainable second-place target. In the chemical sector, which plays a major role in increasing Turkey's exports, we will work harder to reach our year-end target of USD 20 billion. I believe our country will make the best use of the 4.5-year opportunity period without elections ahead. During this period, with the recovery of our economy, the upward momentum in our exports, which has continued since 2017, will accelerate further."
