TEV and KAHEV Partner in Meaningful Collaboration

Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) and Women Physicians Foundation for Education Support (KAHEV) have joined forces to support the children of healthcare workers who lost their lives to coronavirus during the pandemic. Through this collaboration, children of those who died due to coronavirus will continue their education under the wings of TEV and KAHEV. The Women Physicians Foundation for Education Support (KAHEV), whose foundations were laid in 2017 by female physicians dedicated to education and which today carries out educational support activities across the country through the work of thousands of female medical doctors and dentists, along with the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), one of Turkey's most established educational foundations, have combined their efforts to support the children of healthcare workers who contracted and died from coronavirus during the pandemic. Thanks to the collaboration between KAHEV and TEV, which took action to ensure that the education of healthcare workers' children left as a trust to all of Turkey would not be interrupted and their dreams would not remain unfulfilled, these children will be under the wings of these two distinguished foundations throughout their educational journey. During the pandemic, the two institutions came together to express their gratitude to healthcare workers who lost their lives while fighting the virus on the frontlines. They decided to merge their separately launched "Gratitude Fund for Corona Heroes" and "Your Trust, Our Trust" projects, committing to jointly support children who lost their parents during this period. TEV and KAHEV stand out with their extensive networks across the country, their proximity to the field, their high organizational capabilities, their immediate support for those in need, and most importantly, their work in ensuring that the young generation, the future of the country, is not left alone on their educational journey.

Yıldız Günay, Executive Director of the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), made a statement on the subject, noting that the Turkish Education Foundation has been working for 53 years to fulfill its responsibility for equal opportunity in education, and that since the beginning of the pandemic period, they have actively worked to provide education support to children of healthcare workers who died from the virus. He stated: "As the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), we continue to carefully follow the news about coronavirus spread in the world and our country. As the TEV Family, we continue our efforts to ensure that our students receive uninterrupted education support during these extraordinary times. With this awareness, we quickly took action to ensure that the education of the children of all our healthcare worker heroes who left their loved ones behind and fought on the frontlines of this struggle and, unfortunately, lost their lives due to the virus, would not remain unfinished, and we launched the 'TEV Gratitude Fund for Corona Heroes'. To our call for support for corona heroes and their children, caring citizens from every part and every segment of Turkey showed great sensitivity. Now, we will merge the valuable initiatives of the Women Physicians Foundation for Education Support (KAHEV), like us dedicating all its efforts to supporting the education of young people in need, through their 'Your Trust, Our Trust' project with our 'Gratitude Fund for Corona Heroes' scholarship project, and we will stand by our children's education together. As a foundation that believes in equal opportunity in education and strives to provide comprehensive development of our children, we will also continue to support our students under the wings of these two foundations through TEV Academy, TEV Mentoring, internship-employment opportunities, and postgraduate opportunities both domestically and abroad," he said.

Dr. Tülin Pınar Eser, Board Chair of the Women Physicians Foundation for Education Support (KAHEV), stated in her remarks: "As KAHEV member women physicians, we continue to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our country on the frontlines, at the cost of our own lives. As in the entire world, in our country too, due to this epidemic that threatens healthcare workers the most, we deeply mourn the loss of many colleagues, including very esteemed mentors among them. As the KAHEV Family, we regard the children of healthcare workers we have lost during this difficult period we are going through as a trust entrusted to us. The great response from all segments of society, especially our community, to the 'Your Trust, Our Trust' campaign we launched in April for the children left behind by our colleagues who gave their lives for public health, moved us greatly. As women physicians in KAHEV, with the advantage of being in the field, we have promptly reached the children of all colleagues who died in the pandemic and have begun providing education support to all those in need. Now we are joining our strength with the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), which is conducting similar work. With this new alliance, we will continue to support the children of healthcare workers who lost their lives in the epidemic with all our might. Together we will take care of the children entrusted to us," she said.

Joint effort from two institutions...

The Women Physicians Foundation for Education Support (KAHEV) conducts scholarship activities for preschool, primary, secondary and university students' education in every region of Turkey. At the same time, it carries out work tailored to the needs of scholarship recipients, providing support in different areas of education from libraries to workshops, from various laboratories to book assistance. The Turkish Education Foundation, through its branches and scholarship holder network in different regions of Turkey, aims to be present in the educational lives of the children to whom we will entrust our future. TEV provides scholarships to children of families affected by natural disasters and tragic events that the nation experiences collectively.
