Technology-Focused Industry Initiative Program Launches 'Mobility' Call

Turkey's Technology-Driven Industry Initiative Program, which aims to produce strategically important products using domestic and national capabilities, has opened applications for its "mobility" call following the first "machinery" call. Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, announcing the program's new call, stated that they are conducting work on the "Vehicle Mobility and Technologies Strategy Roadmap" in line with the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy and Eleventh Development Plan targets, and that they are addressing the "mobility" call within this scope. Varank said they would publish the roadmap in the near future, stating: "Our mobility sector, which exports 85 percent of its production to Europe, aims to increase its export share in a way that meets the obligations arising from the EU's industrial, digitalization and environmental policies following the Green Deal."

Emphasizing that they aim for the mobility sector's share in exports to reach 20 percent by 2023 and to raise the domestic content ratio to 75 percent by 2030, Varank said, "The Technology-Driven Industry Initiative Program Mobility Call will create an important leverage effect in achieving these targets. Projects that can contribute to these targets can be supported through this call."

Varank continued: "Moreover, the innovative technologies to be supported here consist of those expected to rapidly increase their share in world trade under the influence of paradigm shifts in the mobility field in the coming period. With the new call, we will support investments in 152 medium-high and high-tech products and 40 innovative technologies under 5 headings in this field. Through the Initiative Program, it has become possible to support investments in a much faster, flexible and efficient manner." With TUBITAK and KOSGEB project supports provided for the production of products and technologies in the call, and support within the investment incentive certificate scope, a single-window mechanism allows them to be defined together. Investments decided to be supported through the Initiative Program can benefit from strategic investment incentives. Additionally, a project-based incentive system can be activated for projects envisaging fixed investments exceeding TRY 50 million. The program allows end-to-end support of all stages of a product, covering R&D, prototype development, commercialization, mass production and operation phases.
