IMCD's Science Firefly for TEGV Hits the Road

IMCD Science Firefly Sets Off for TEGV The Science Firefly, launched by the Turkish Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), Turkey's most widespread civil society organization in the education field, and operated under the sponsorship of IMCD Turkey, the world's leading distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients, departed on 25 November for its new destination in Denizli. Children and teachers, together with IMCD Turkey and TEGV staff, bade farewell to the Science Firefly, which has reached more than 51,000 children in 17 provinces with the support of 133 volunteers to date. The Science Firefly, launched by the Turkish Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), which provides children with a creative and effective learning environment, and operated under the sponsorship of IMCD Turkey, the world's leading distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients, departed on 25 November toward its new destination in Denizli. The Science Firefly, which most recently met with children at Beykoz Atatürk Primary School, was sent off by IMCD Turkey and TEGV staff, children and teachers. Before the Science Firefly set off toward its new school, IMCD Turkey employees gathered with the children to conduct various experiments and activities and discussed science with them.

Offers an engaging, creative and effective learning environment

The Science Firefly, sponsored by IMCD Turkey, provides children with an engaging, creative and effective learning environment, supported by rich and interesting materials and featuring innovative experiments and educational sets. The Science Firefly Education Program aims to contribute to the development of primary school-age children into individuals who think scientifically, solve problems and develop positive attitudes toward science by building their scientific thinking skills. Students in grades 2–8 can participate in the Science Firefly Education Program. The Science Firefly Education Program contributes to the development of children's knowledge, skills and attitudes related to science, while developing their ability to make predictions and ask questions about events, as well as their skills in gathering information through observation and experimentation and testing knowledge. It contributes to establishing relationships between causes and effects of events, discovering different ways of gaining knowledge, making connections between phenomena and situations and science, and raising awareness about scientists. To date, the Science Firefly has covered 15,000 km and reached 51,067 children in 17 provinces with the support of 133 volunteers.
