TEGV Celebrates Its 31st Anniversary with TEGV Children

Türkiye Eğitim Gönüllüleri Vakfı (TEGV) celebrated its 31st anniversary with children at the Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Learning Unit on Friday, 23 January. Board Members, volunteers and executives attended the celebration. During the event, achievements gained throughout the year were shared and hopes for the new period were expressed. Working for equal opportunity in education since 1995, TEGV has made a difference in the lives of millions of children over 31 years through its support for quality education.
Turkey Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV) celebrated its 31st anniversary on Friday, 23 January at the Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Learning Unit with children. Board members, volunteers and managers attended the event. During the event, achievements made throughout the year were shared and hopes for the new period were expressed. Working for equal opportunity in education since 1995, TEGV has made a difference in the lives of millions of children through quality education support over 31 years.
Turkey Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), which brings quality education to children across all four corners of Turkey with the vision "A Child Changes, Turkey Develops," celebrated its 31st anniversary on Friday, 23 January with an event held at the TEGV Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Learning Unit.
TEGV's traditional anniversary gathering was attended by TEGV Board Chairman M. Özalp Birol, Board Vice Chairman Alp Öğücü, Board Member Emine Çakıroğlu, Board Member Ahmet H. Uysal, General Director Sait Tosyalı, TEGV management team, volunteers and children. As in previous years, the event, where achievements of the year were shared and hopes for the new period were emphasized, ended with cake cutting together with the children.
TEGV Provided Quality Education Support to More Than 3.3 Million Children
TEGV, established in 1995 with the aim of contributing to the raising of contemporary generations based on the principles and values of the Republic, has provided quality education support to more than 3.3 million children with the support of over 108,000 volunteers over the past 30 years. The foundation, which aims to strengthen equal opportunity in education, continues its work with an original educational model that enables children of primary school age to freely discover their talents and focuses on 21st-century skills. Today, operating in 24 provinces at 62 activity points with child-friendly spaces and innovative programmes with the support of its volunteers, TEGV is one of Turkey's most widespread civil society organizations.
"The Education Journey Started by Suna Kıraç Has Continued to Be a Source of Hope for 31 Years"
TEGV Board Chairman M. Özalp Birol made the following statements in his evaluation of the foundation's 31st year:
"We are proud to celebrate our 31st year in this meaningful education journey that began in 1995 under the leadership of our founder, the late Suna Kıraç. With the dedication of over 108,000 volunteers, we work with the happiness of having touched the lives of more than 3.3 million children and the responsibility of reaching more children. With the strength we draw from the values of our Republic, we will continue to prepare our children for the future as contemporary, confident, questioning and creative individuals. In our 31st year, reaching more children and making lasting and meaningful contributions to education remain our greatest goals."

TEGV General Director Sait Tosyalı included the following statements in his message on the anniversary:

A new TEGV film featuring master actress Turkan Şoray, who has won the title of "Sultan" in Turkish cinema, has also taken its place on screens. Master actress Turkan Şoray visited the Zeyrek Learning Unit in Istanbul on the occasion of TEGV's 30th anniversary and spent an unforgettable day with the children. In TEGV's new public service announcement film, sincere moments from this meeting between Şoray, who came together with children, participated in activities and chatted with them, are shared with viewers. In the film, drawing attention to the vital importance education holds for the future of society, Turkan Şoray invites everyone to support TEGV. In the public service announcement titled "This Is a Call to the Future," Şoray addresses viewers with these words: "Education… The most powerful light that illuminates the future of a society. TEGV has created a sustainable structure by supporting its widespread organization with a strong corporate governance approach. In line with principles of transparency and accountability, the foundation, which undergoes independent audits every year, shares information at international standards through Integrated Activity Reports.
A signatory to the United Nations Global Compact and one of the first civil society organizations to enter Turkey's Board of Directors, TEGV is among the pioneer NGOs holding ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certifications. The fact that its Measurement and Evaluation methodology was accepted as a case study by Harvard University strengthens the foundation's exemplary position in the field of education.

Believing that quality education is every child's right, TEGV aims to expand its impact in its 31st year with programmes that develop the creativity and potential of children across all four corners of Turkey.
