TAYK–AKPA Navy Cup Winner Announced

The 54th TAYK–AKPA Naval Forces Cup, Turkey's longest-route and single-stage open sea yacht race, concluded with a grand awards ceremony held in Göcek on 18 July 2025 under the main sponsorship of AKPA Kimya.

A total of 27 yachts competed in IRC 0-1-2-3 classes in this prestigious race, which featured a challenging 555 nautical mile course. The race saw 12 foreign-flagged and 15 Turkish-flagged yachts competing. Starting from Istanbul Emirgan on Monday, 14 July 2025 at 16:05, the race concluded successfully in Göcek after four days of intense competition.

Organized under the patronage of the Turkish Navy, by the Turkey Open Sea Racing Club (TAYK) and with the main sponsorship that AKPA Kimya has sustained uninterruptedly for four years, this event also made an important contribution to the international promotion of Turkish sailing sport.

The grand trophy of the race was presented to BOGATYR / IGOR RYTOV and crew, who achieved the best corrected time in the IRC classes, by Rear Admiral Rafet Oktar, South Naval Area Command; TAYK Commodore Vedat Tezman; and AKPA Kimya Board Chairman Kemal Darcan.

TAYK General Manager Can Giray noted that this length of yacht race was being organized for the first time in Turkey, stating: "Competitors starting from the Istanbul Strait crossed 2 straits and 3 seas in a single race to reach Göcek. The most striking development this year was that for the first time in the cup's 54-year history, it was won by a foreign team."

AKPA Kimya Board Chairman Kemal Darcan congratulated all sailors participating in the race and made the following remarks:
"We are proud of the interest shown in Turkey's longest-route, single-stage and demanding race. We congratulate all teams on their achievements and are delighted to be part of this important event."
