Solar Impulse Foundation and Schneider Electric Foundation Partner on Competition to Mobilize Organizations on Climate Change
Schneider Electric, through the Schneider Electric Foundation under the patronage of Fondation de France, is joining forces with the Solar Impulse Foundation on the "Solar Impulse Efficient Solution" project. Within the scope of the project, 1,000 solutions that protect the environment profitably will be selected and awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label.
In the four-year project, award recipients will be determined by independent experts according to criteria of technical innovation, profitability and environmental protection.
These solutions will demonstrate to the world that effective solutions exist in the fight against climate change and that they do not require very large budgets; rather, they can be achieved at low cost.
Schneider Electric Board Chairman and CEO, and also President of the Schneider Electric Foundation, Jean-Pascal Tricoire: "By contributing to this project through the Schneider Electric Foundation, we want to encourage our employees to develop new solutions and implement existing ones. Both foundations are pragmatic organizations.
In this context, Solar Impulse Foundation Board Chairman Bertrand Piccard and I believe in innovation and developing new solutions in the fight against climate change.
To this end, we are taking on a catalyst role in creating and implementing technological, social and entrepreneurial innovations to help close the energy gap and promote a more equitable environmental transition," he said.
Solar Impulse Foundation Board Chairman Bertrand Piccard: "The successful companies of tomorrow are those that understand the need to act today on energy efficiency and take advantage of all opportunities related to environmental protection.
Through this partnership with the Solar Impulse Foundation, Schneider Electric is once again demonstrating its pioneering stance and proving that it is fully aware of its role in ecological transformation. Together, we will make every effort needed to accelerate the process of selecting solutions that protect the environment and are profitable, and we will work for their widespread use," he said. The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label is awarded following an evaluation process consisting of six sections that includes assessment of the use cycle (carbon emissions, recyclability, etc.) and business model and target country headings for implementation. Ideas are collected through an online system and analyzed through an online platform developed by the Solar Impulse Foundation to protect the names of submitted projects and experts. The process, to which numerous professionals specializing in five identified key focus areas contribute, can take several days or several weeks.Advertisement
