Şişecam and ASELSAN to Collaborate

ASELSAN and Şişecam Group have signed a cooperation protocol to develop solutions for sourcing materials to standards for ASELSAN's defence-industry projects, as well as for product composition and optimization. Under the scope of the signed protocol, Şişecam Group and ASELSAN will work together with the goal of producing domestic and national solutions by combining the capabilities, competencies and experience derived from their long-established history of operations. The cooperation, which will be valid for a minimum of two years and will be implemented in two phases comprising preliminary studies and prototype production, aims to develop a wide variety of glass and glass-ceramic materials for use in various equipment to be developed by ASELSAN, particularly periscope glass for our national tank. The materials in question are planned to be resistant to thermal shock, high strength and possess optical performance different from conventional glasses, depending on the requirements of the equipment in which they will be used. The composition of these products to be used by ASELSAN will be developed by Şişecam, with the goal of producing them domestically and nationally at all stages starting from raw materials.
