On the occasion of December 3rd World Disability Day, Shell Türkiye once again emphasizes its commitment to equal participation in social life and support for a barrier-free life. To this end, it is working for a barrier-free life through various programs ranging from Barrier-Free Service Areas, a first in the sector, to its collaboration with the Turkish National Paralympic Committee.
As one of the world's leading energy companies, Shell, which has contributed to Türkiye's development for 102 years, continues to create value through its social investment programs developed to address social needs, alongside its operational activities in Türkiye. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Reducing Inequalities and its own Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles, the company supports the full and equal participation of individuals with disabilities in social life.
Meltem Okyar Perdeci, Shell Türkiye Corporate Affairs Director and Shell & Turcas Executive Board Member, underlines that they carry out programs aimed at expanding the barrier-free life approach both within the company and in society: "We believe that our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles empower us, and we are taking steps in every possible area for equal opportunity. To bring this understanding to our stations, we achieved a first in the sector and began creating Barrier-Free Service Areas at our stations in 2017. Today, at our 946 stations across Türkiye, our physically disabled guests can receive accompaniment support from our station employees, from their shopping in the market to the restroom, or can receive service and make payments without getting out of their vehicles."
