Saint-Gobain Announces Turkey Jury for 2026 International Architecture Student Competition

The national jury members who will serve in the Turkey leg of the Saint-Gobain 2026 International Architecture Student Competition have been announced. The jury, composed of experts in the field, will evaluate projects focused on sustainable architecture and select the team that will represent Turkey at the international final in Belgrade.

The jury, composed of expert names in the field, will evaluate projects focused on sustainable architecture and determine the team to represent Turkey in the international final to be held in Belgrade.

The application deadline has been extended to 1 April 2026 from 28 February 2026 due to high demand.

National jury announced
The national jury that will evaluate projects in the Turkey stage consists of Dr. Murat Sönnez, Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Tanyer, Architect Emre Kuzlu, Prof. Dr. Ferhat Hacıalibeyoğlu, Architect Hande Ciğerli, Architect Özge Zabun and Saint-Gobain Turkey Architectural Solutions Manager Kubilay Büyükl. Architect Utku Doğanay will serve as alternate jury member.

Sustainable architecture focus
Organized on a global scale for more than 20 years, the competition encourages young architecture candidates to develop innovative and environmentally friendly design solutions. The competition will take place in two stages: national and international. The team that wins first place in Turkey will have the right to represent the country in the international final in Belgrade.

At the national stage, participants will submit their work under two different project titles: existing building restoration and new building design. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying at universities in Turkey.

National awards and international final
Projects placing in the Turkey stage will receive:

1st place: TRY 75,000,

2nd place: TRY 30,000,

3rd place: TRY 15,000.

The grand final will take place with a gala event held in Belgrade between 23–25 June 2026. Teams placing in the international stage will receive a total of EUR 11,500 in prizes.

Starting in Serbia in 2004 and gaining an international identity as of 2005, the competition today brings together more than 1,300 architecture students from more than 30 countries. The competition, which supports projects with high energy efficiency, low carbon footprint and user comfort prioritization, represents a prestigious international platform for young architects.
