Leaders in Insulation and Durability Come Together

The leaders of polyurethane and composites—sectors of critical importance to Turkey's "national technology initiative" launched to achieve its 2023 targets—will converge at PUTECH EURASIA and EURASIAN COMPOSITES SHOW on 28–30 November. Polyurethane, spanning applications from aircraft to structures, footwear to electronics, automobiles to defence, and medical devices to sports, continues to uphold its motto of being "present in every aspect of life" through its unique properties of insulation, moldability, and fire resistance. Composites, which have drawn attention through rapid developments in Turkey's defence industry, are increasingly preferred each day thanks to the exceptional durability they provide—from construction to renewable energy, and across land, sea, air and rail transport. The fairs, representing a regional gathering of two sectors critical to Turkey's national technology initiative, will transform into a veritable Polyurethane and Composites showcase with over 200 participants across a 12,000 square-metre space.

Industry Leaders Meet on Panel

Prominent names from the polyurethane and composites sectors will assess the present and shed light on the future through panels organised at Putech Eurasia and Eurasian Composites Show. At panels focusing on industry innovations, discussion will centre on the place and importance of composites and polyurethane in Turkey's national technology initiative, with success stories to be shared. Cengiz Yaman, General Director of ARTKİM Fuarcılık, the organiser of Putech Eurasia and Eurasian Composite Show, emphasised that polyurethane and composites are among Turkey's most critical sectors, stating: "Polyurethane and composites are of critical importance to UAVs and combat UAVs that lead Turkey's National Technology Initiative. In support of Turkey's realisation of this mission in strategic industries such as polyurethane and composites, we are hosting the region's most important gathering in Istanbul."

Two Sectors United to Propel Turkey to Global Leadership

Polyurethane and composites, particularly key components of the defence industry within the national technology initiative, continue to assert their claim as among the most important instruments on Turkey's path to world leadership in their respective sectors. With domestic UAVs and combat UAVs manufactured using polyurethane and composites, Turkey has drawn the world's attention and generates high added value in numerous domestic and national products through these materials.

Polyurethane Sector Present in Every Aspect of Life

Usage of polyurethane is increasing daily across many sectors including bedding and furniture, building and construction, electronics, aviation, defence, automotive and transport, footwear, packaging, textiles, white goods, air conditioning, and medical devices. Beyond its insulation properties, its moldability and lightness reduce costs in many applications. Additionally, through fire-resistance properties achievable via further processing, it offers unique opportunities. Rising energy efficiency has driven increasing demand for polyurethane from end-use sectors. The polyurethane industry continues intensive R&D efforts for diverse and innovative applications.

Composites: The Sector of the Future with Steady Growth

The composites sector, serving a pioneering role in the growth of many sectors including carbon fibre applications, CTP pipe applications, automotive and transport, renewable energy, maritime, construction and engineering plastics, is projected to reach a volume of 10 million tonnes within five years at the global level, with an anticipated volumetric growth of 4%. In Turkey, the sector is expected to show growth of around 5% in 2019. As Europe's sixth-largest producer, the Turkish Composites Sector demonstrates growth substantially exceeding that of the world and Europe. The sector, which showed growth of 8–12% in previous years, is expected to close this year with 5% growth. The fairs will be open from 28–30 November 2019 for 3 days between 10:00 and 18:00 at Istanbul Fair Centre. Detailed information regarding the fairs and events within their scope can be obtained through their websites, and free online visitor registration is available. GRACO as Silver Sponsor of PUTECH EURASIA and EURASIAN COMPOSITES Show 2019 GRACO BVBA, established in 1926 and a global brand in fluid management systems and components, became the 2019 Silver Sponsor of the 6th International Polyurethane Industry Fair (Putech Eurasia) and the 4th International Composites Raw Materials, Semi-finished Products, Products and Technologies Fair (Eurasian Composites Show). graco.com/tr
