PAGEV Organizing 14th Turkish Plastics Industry Congress

The Turkish plastics sector continues to grow with a production capacity of 10 million tonnes and turnover of USD 35 billion, exports of USD 12 billion to 150 countries, and employment of 250,000 people. At this year's 14th PAGEV Turkish Plastics Industry Congress, recycling—the most important formula for environmental protection—will be on the agenda. At the Congress, organized under the main theme "Recycling from Climate Change and Zero Waste Perspectives," expert speakers will cover recycling comprehensively. The countdown has begun for the "Turkish Plastics Industry Congress," the 14th edition to be organized by the Turkish Plastics Manufacturers Association Research, Development and Education Foundation (PAGEV). The Congress, one of the sector's most important gatherings, will take place on 3 December 2019 at Hilton Bomonti Hotel. Experts from Turkey and abroad, sector representatives and academics will discuss the sector's future from a recycling perspective. While significant progress has been made in recycling through public responsibility, developing collection systems and consumer awareness, much work remains to be done. What technological innovations are needed for greater recycling? How can we solve the plastic waste problem by creating a circular economy? How can we transform plastics into sustainable materials as quickly as possible? All these questions and more will find answers at the 14th PAGEV Turkish Plastics Industry Congress.

The Congress will open with speeches from PAGEV First Vice President Ahmet Meriç,

PAGEV President Yavuz Eroğlu and Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Environmental Impact Assessment, Licensing and Inspection Director General Ercan Gülay. In the first session of the Congress, speakers who will share valuable information are Erema CEO Manfred Hackl, Tomra Plastics Materials and Processes Vice President Dr. Harald Lehmann, Metin Bilgili Education and Consulting Director General Metin Bilgili, EuPC Director General Alexander Dangis. The speakers in the second session will be Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Zero Waste and Waste Processing Department Director Sadiye Bilgiç Karabulut, Arçelik Environmental Manager Zeynep Özbek, PepsiCo Sustainability & External Relations Manager Gözde Morkoç Nikelay, REC Turkey Senior Consultant Onur Akpulat.   In the afternoon session of the 14th PAGEV Turkish Plastics Congress, a panel titled "Recycling for Zero Waste" will be held under the moderation of Economy Journalists Association (EGD) President Celal Toprak. On the panel; TOBB Chemistry Industry Board President Timur Erk, Consumer Complaints Center Honorary President Aydın Ağaoğlu, Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB) Secretary General Birol Ekici, Recyclable Waste Materials Manufacturers Association (TÜDAM) Board President Vedat Kılıç, TMMOB Environmental Engineers Chamber General President Baran Bozoğlu, Street Waste Collectors Association President Recep Karaman, MTM Plastics Recycling General Coordinator Taha Mahserci and Adanus Plastics Board President Bilal Nadir Gök will discuss recycling for zero waste from all perspectives.
