Vocational School Mobilizes for Earthquake Victims At Recep Atakaş Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Dörtyol district of Hatay, meals are being prepared and cleaning supplies are being produced for those affected by the earthquakes that occurred on 6 February centered in Kahramanmaraş. Within the scope of works carried out under the coordination of the Governor's Office, volunteer teachers and students at the school produce meals and cleaning supplies for earthquake victims and deliver them to the region through AFAD. Hot meals, bread, liquid soap, bleach, disinfectant and cologne production meet the needs not only of earthquake victims but also of personnel on duty and volunteers in the region. District National Education Director Mehmet Toksoy said they have made efforts to contribute to healing the wounds in Dörtyol and its surroundings following the earthquakes. Noting that the tremors were felt strongly in Dörtyol as well, Toksoy emphasized that following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake centered in Pazarcık district, they mobilized school facilities to serve earthquake victims. Expressing that they are working to meet the urgent needs of the earthquake region, Toksoy stated: "In our district, particularly in the kitchen of our Recep Atakaş Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, we had the capacity to produce 35,000 meals daily. We immediately delivered these meals to our earthquake victims on the morning of the first day and provided three hot meals."

Toksoy, who said they have turned schools least affected by the earthquake into shelter centers for earthquake victims, continued: "We opened all 40 schools in our district to our earthquake victims. Approximately 2,900 earthquake victims are staying in our schools. We are sending meals to these victims from Recep Atakaş Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. At the same time, daily bread production of 15,000 loaves from this school continues. The chemistry department produces floor disinfectant, liquid soap and cologne with an average daily production capacity of around 9,000 liters. We are trying to meet AFAD's needs from our schools. We are happy to serve them. We will continue these services until normalization is achieved." Chemistry department teacher Erol Can stated that they will continue production with volunteer teachers and students for those affected by the earthquake. Student Abdulkadir Yaprak said: "Since the first day, as someone who experienced the earthquakes, we are volunteering to help here. We are happy because of that." SOURCE
