Marmara University and Sabri Ülker Foundation to Establish Research Center for the Future of Public Health
Sabri Ülker Foundation launches Sabri Ülker Application and Research Centre in collaboration with Marmara University to further increase scientific productivity.
The first steps of Marmara University Sabri Ülker Application and Research Centre were taken with a protocol signed on 7 June 2018, at a ceremony attended by Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Emin Arat, Foundation Board Member Ali Ülker and Foundation General Director Begüm Mutuş.
Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. M. Emin Arat said: "Today we are taking the first step of a collaboration that holds great importance in Turkey. We consider this a comprehensive cooperation agreement between Marmara University, one of Turkey's most established higher education institutions, and Sabri Ülker Foundation.
We are establishing Marmara University Sabri Ülker Application and Research Centre, which will keep alive the name of the late visionary and philanthropic businessman Sabri Ülker, a pioneer of Turkey's food industry. The late Sabri Ülker dedicated his lifetime to the production of the most delicious products that appeal to Turkish people's taste.
We remember him with gratitude and respect. The name of the late Sabri Ülker lives on not only through countless charitable works scattered across our country, but also in the delicious flavors that bring happiness to every home, every family, every individual and every child.
We believe that the data we will obtain from the research conducted in this centre will form the foundation of important scientific work in the world of science. Additionally, by enabling scientists from different geographies to conduct research in the centre, we aim to create a universal scientific network.
In this way, I have boundless confidence that we will achieve results beneficial to the entire world and humanity."
Ali Ülker: We Are Ready to Provide Full Support for Turkey to Be a Pioneer in Science
Ali Ülker said, "The aim of Sabri Ülker Foundation in establishing this centre jointly with Marmara University is to contribute to society and public health, to encourage research and to share correct information with the public. I would like to extend my thanks to Council of Higher Education President Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Arat and Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Hakan Gündüz for this common objective. Although science is universal, it is very important for us that our beautiful Turkey becomes a pioneer in science and that Turkish scientists implement exemplary projects. From our previous collaborations, we recently held a symposium at the Harvard Sabri Ülker Metabolic Research Centre and there we gave the first signals of the scientific collaboration we would initiate in Turkey. At the symposium, we also had the opportunity to present the Sabri Ülker Science Award to Assoc. Prof. Ömer Yılmaz, a Turkish scientist conducting research abroad. I hope that with this newly established scientific research centre, extremely talented scientists will enable Marmara University and our Turkey to be known on the international stage. Our aim is to bring together domestic and foreign universities with which we collaborate, to enable young Turkish scientists to develop and to open our scientists to international collaborations. " It is targeted that Marmara University Sabri Ülker Application and Research Centre will begin its work as soon as possible.Advertisement
