Magnetic Particle Imaging Project Receives Support Under 2+2 Turkish-German Cooperation Program
Under the Turkish-German Science Year, ASELSAN Research Center and Bilkent University applied to the 2+2 Turkish-German Cooperation Program organized by the German Federal Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with the project "Real-Time Imaging Methods for Interventional Magnetic Particle Imaging". A total of 130 R&D project applications were submitted to the 2+2 Turkish-German Cooperation Program from Turkey and Germany, and in the evaluation conducted by TUBITAK and BMBF, it was announced that only 9 projects met the support criteria. The project "Real-Time Imaging Methods for Interventional Magnetic Particle Imaging" ranked 3rd among the 130 applications and qualified for support. Additionally, a fund of approximately TRY 1,000,000 was secured for use in R&D activities in this field involving advanced technology at ASELSAN Research Center. On the German side, University of Lübeck and Nano4Imaging served as project partners. The project aims to reduce calibration and data acquisition times through Compressed Sensing, design hardware and software capable of real-time operation to meet clinical requirements, and establish an imaging unit that will expand the worldwide clinical use of Magnetic Particle Imaging. The market size for clinical magnetic particle imaging devices is projected to reach EUR 50 million annually in 2020 and EUR 700 million annually in 2025.Advertisement
