Feridun Balaban, a student at Malatya Science and Arts Center, won first place in the SPIE special award category at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the USA with his physics project.
In a written statement from the Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was announced that Balaban's project, supervised by chemistry teacher Savaş Zafer Güler, titled "Investigation of the Efficiency and Spectral Effectiveness of Multi-Layer Solar Panels Using Boron and Nitrogen-Doped Diamond-Like Carbon Material as the Top Layer," won first place in the competition held online on 4 and 5 May.
In the statement describing ISEF as the world's largest and most prestigious international science competition, it was noted that approximately 1,800 students from more than 75 countries participate annually in 22 categories. It was also stated that students who place in this competition are entitled to university placement outside quota and without entrance examination by ÖSYM.
